I’ve never once used the term clutch when discussing football, neither have I ever heard it used by my mates or work colleagues, never heard my son or his mates use it either, if fact the only time I have heard it used is when people are talking about cars

Clutch can get in the bin along with blue chip trophies and apex wingers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Generational talent
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh I actually like that one, probably because I've used it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm definitely calling Salah the apex winger from now on
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There can only be one and I'm reliably informed it's Pepe

"Clutch"
Didn't realise we were talking American sports. Did Salah throw a hail Mary or something
----------------------------------------------------------------------
pretty universal term as far as I was aware
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is an American term for sports. Comes specifically from baseball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
might be its origins but its a universally used word.

Loads of words that are commonly used all over the world originate from America, likewise they use loads of words that originated here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one uses it in football, except Yankified stat merchants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it gets used in all walks of life.
Its a very common universal term in gaming for eg.

its a universally used term. accept you made a mistake and move on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Gaming" - very America orientated.
Clutch is not commonly used in football. Never has been, but will probably be in the future as we see it becoming more and more Americanised, along with the continued increase of pointless stats.
Horrendous, skin crawling term. Makes me want to throw up anytime I read it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
gaming is universal.

clutch is a universal term used by many many cultures regardless of its roots. its used in many many different sports. it doesnt have to be the mnost commonly used term but to suggest its an american only used term is wrong.

its used by loads of cultures in many competitive scenarios.

the very fact you are pretty familiar with the terms kinda shows that.

Things that annoy me about US saccer.

'Shats' on goal.
Shats that hit the 'frame'.
A foul 'on' someone is the perpetrator and not the victim from calling a foul on...
Grounds where they announce corner kicks like no cvnt knows the rules.
