11 goals in 10 PL games is shocking though so something needs to change.

At this stage I’d just settle for signing players with funny names.

Seriously should have signed Gyokeres as well as Hojlund in the summer.

Both players have similar attributes so would have represented some joined up thinking in terms of rotating without drastically affecting the attacking patterns (if we had any that is) and Gyokeres was available for dirt cheap.

He's now banging them in at Sporting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Never heard of Gyokeres, looks seriously good on YT. Played for Coventry City at one point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

18 & 22 in his two full seasons at Coventry and signed for Sporting Lisbon in the summer. Has 8 in 11 games for them so far.

Seemed to be a player that was ready to make the next step up in his career and at only £17m would have been a punt that everyone could have gotten on board with, and like Dan James probably would have had some resale value had things not worked out.

3 goals in 6 games for Sweden in 2023 as well.

Hojlund has done okay but he doesn't get any service. Bruno has been poverty this season and I'm beginning to question the point in playing a traditional centre forward when you have inverted wingers who don't want to cross and aren't in positions to do so on their stronger foot anyway

Yeah I’d love us to sign him.

We won't have £70-100m to spend on another striker though.

Don't we owe £300m too to other clubs already? Sure I read we borrowed more money to buy the players we did this summer too.

We are skint.

Maybe going for Free transfers is the way forward for us. If they flop we can make a small profit and we aren't stuck with them. 😂

Possibly or it could be that as a novice he isn’t making the runs that a Bruno or Eriksen can pick out. It may be an illusion of sorts if that makes sense. That we blame the lack of creativity when the problem might actually in part be the rawness of Hojlund. Someone more experienced like Toney might find better spaces or just work out better partnerships with players who trust his runs more.

Hojlund doesn’t get into the right positions to score goals. Which isn’t surprising given his age, but then that’s why it was stupid signing a young striker that doesn’t score goals.

Another option (though raw too) is my main man at Feyenoord. Santiago Gimenez.

Goal scoring stats look very impressive based on last season and so far this season. Haven't ever seen him play and have no idea what sort of fee he'd command in the market but if the fee is reasonable he seems like one to seriously consider.

Maybe we can give Brentford Mount and just be like ‘he’s your problem now, give us Toney please’.

Fancy Toney to stay at Brentford until summer at least. He’ll have a fight on his hands to get into the England squad for the Euros. Playing regularly for Brentford would be the bet bet to get back ahead of Watkins.

I actually think joining United helps him more as the whole big club bias thing works in his favour with someone like Southgate. While I don’t expect him to go go score 20 goals in the second half of the season even just getting 10+ goals is imo gonna get him in the good favour of the England manager

This might make sense except for the fact that not only has he had the ball in the back of the net 5 times (two of which were unfortunate to have been chalked off), but we also had the exact same problem the last two seasons, scoring 57 and 58 PL goals only.

Our attacking play has been consistently poor even before ETH came in, and heavily reliant on moments and form from certain players to get us over the line. Nevertheless, we do need another option in that position either way.

I'm not sure referring to the "best bet" is appropriate in the circumstances. Shame on you!

Makes no odds, Southgate regularly picks players that aren’t at big clubs if he likes them.

We aren’t signing so I’m not even talking about us. More him moving elsewhere.

What that is I have no idea but will get behind and promote it whatever
