Remaining league fixtures

There's also Sheffield United to be rearranged, which we should be winning too. I expect we'll beat Everton, Newcastle, Burnley and Palace too and yeah, we'll not win any of the others. Even Newcastle at home is far from a gimme

23 points I reckon - that’s a pretty decent set of fixtures truth be told

5th place gets top 4 this season though doesn't it?

out of all those PL games and including Liverpool in the FA Cup, I would only be confident of beating Burnley at home. And even then, in the run-in to the end of the season the top teams especially and some of the bottom teams like Burnley Everton abd Shef U usually win games, especially against mid-table teams such as Man United, with nothing to play for.

Beat Liverpool in the league and I'll change my username to one of your choice for a week.

The challenge has been laid down.

so you are not confident of winning the league this season Binky?

I agree, I think Liverpool will win it for Clipperty

I'll take a gues at what will happen here.

Having struggled for the majority of the season we'll string a few wins together towards the end and beat Arsenal thus opening the door for City or Liverpool to win the league. It'd be typical!

Never been confident at this stage of the season apart from 2018.

“ I have previously said that I thought the extent of our injuries might have seen ETH be given the benefit of a 3rd season”

Our injuries are still a disaster.

It’s genuinely not, 7 games against bottom half sides, 2 games against sides actually above them.

The average league position of United’s remaining opponents is 12th.

If they go on a bad run it won’t be due to tough fixtures as this is more or less their kindest run of the season

If you'd have asked this question before Hojlund got injured, you'd have got a different response.. Let's hope he can come back firing again

Out of the away fixtures there you'd say Palace are the easiest, none of the other away games there I'd say are gimmes. Maybe Brentford and Bournemouth they should be winning but those can beat anyone on their day.

I think we will lose at Brighton on final day and end up 7th.

We have the GD and XG of a team who should be 12th.

7th place finish for how bad we've been would be a result. 😂

XG should be wiped from history... What a pointless, pointless stat.

Yes, and I'm not saying they won't be a factor, but ultimately, Injuries or not, if we were to finish, say 8th, he would probably have to go, no?

What about GD? 😂

Also XG data can be overblown I agree but it does show which teams are dominant and quelle surprise the best teams in the league will mostly have the best XG over a season.

However you want to paint it we are a poor team and 7th place would be about right if we are honest with ourselves if that's where we ended up.

posted on 4/3/24

GD is fine to separate teams very close to each other.. Points do an even better job though.

Newcastle have a way better GD than us, yet have been very inconsistent, even by our standards. There GD is not a better indication than our 4 point advantage to determine who will end where.

They have been hampered with injuries like us so no great shock there.

6th place is by no means a shoe in for us though. We will need to win another 5/6 games to make sure of it.
