Anyway we don't need Bellingham we have McTominay and had Fred

United would have wasted Bellinghams talent. He made the right choice.

I reckon Haaland would have asked for the same things Bellingham wanted which we couldn't really agree to. I think Haaland seems like someone who makes sensible career moves and Dortmund is the perfect club to move to to grow and then move onto a bigger club as both Haaland and Bellingham showed. Just because Halaand played under Ole at Molde I don't think that would have influenced his choice much.

I thought we already knew Ronaldo was Ole's choice, he's mentioned it before about not turning down such an offer and bringing in a huge character to the squad.

Why would one of the younger players be made captain?

Cos they've facked up everything else so why not?

Still love Ole.

Enjoyed the football the most post Fergie under him. No coincidence that 6 of the biggest 7 victories we've had since 2013 came with him in charge.

The Haaland stuff is so annoying. 20m Euros and we didn't even try to sign him before the big boys even started sniffing. 😭

Don't think a club is going to spend €20m on a player that they haven't scouted just because an ex player has recommended him.

Sorry, Ole referred to Gen Z, so could have been any of the squad but the older ones.

He clearly made the right decision, but he'd have been a success wherever he went, and I'm sure he'd have inspired a few around him at Utd.

No he would not. He would’ve failed here and the regular idiots would be saying he loves the bling and fashion blah blah nonsense.

He attends fashion shows regularly and doing the business. The British media had he been here would kill him.

Considering most of our signings have failed (especially young ones) I don't think it's clear that Bellingham would have succeeded.

He obviously is far stronger mentally than someone like Sancho but don't underestimate how great the club is at ruining players.

Ole said in the interview that his name was on the list didn't he? The club just didn't do anything with this information.

Says everything how we pass up that chance but happily throw 80m on Maguire and 85 on Antony. And even if you take it down the list we threw 25/30m on Amad too who had done nothing in the game and still hasn't done a lot.

Baffling

My memory is terrible, but it would be worth looking at how the squad looked In terms of strengths and shortfalls at the times Ole says we could have signed him, to see how big an oversight this really was.

posted on 6/3/24

Think Ole said he was on the list when he was manager and they tried to buy him the same time Dortmund eventually got him. Not when he had joined Salzburg and and Ole called the club to buy him for €20m when Salzburg had only just paid €8m for him a couple months before.

In the summer of 2018 our strikers were Lukaku, Rashford, Martial and Sanchez. It was also the summer where Jose complained about not having enough money to spend and was refused slabhead. We onlt bought Fred, Dalot and Grant that summer, not sure we had €20m spare on a very untested 18 year old.

There’s a lot to break down from Ole’s Interview, he’s admitted his mistakes, but I’ve seen a comment suggesting this is a power move by G.Nev.

Why now? This interview could’ve happened at anytime.
They think G.Nev has purposely chosen this time to send a message to Sir Jim and INEOS.

‘Don’t make the same mistakes’

Mistakes can happen, but we talking major mismanagement from above, and they put it all on the Manager, who eventually gets the bullet, and it’s rinse and repeat.
UTD have to put their ego in check and stop passing the buck. All these managers we’ve had this last decade were working under crap conditions, crap culture but the media would have you believe they are crap and solely responsible.
I say give Ten Hag a chance under this new regime, still has a year left, otherwise the first big outlay INEOS make, is not in a player, but Ten Hags and his back room staff’s compensation.

Just had a look

At the time Ole recommended we sign Haaland, we had Lukaku and Sanchez, plus the very young and huge prospect, rashford, as well as Martial.

A power move how?

I dont know many fans who put our performances post SAF solely on the managers. The Glazers, Woodward and Arnold have all come in for huge criticism.

You beat me to it.

So, when you look at it, £20m on a very young lad from Molde when resources were limited and the squad was stacked with exciting forwards (at the time) it doesn't look THAT big an oversight.

posted on 6/3/24

We would have signed him from Salzburg, not Molde. He had only just moved but had a €20m release fee that Ole obviously knew about not that I think Haaland would have made that move so soon after moving to Salzburg.

Also remember we had Jose, he isn’t spending €20m on a kid even if we had the money to spend.

This is what I saw someone say, and I’m just thinking is there anything to it… could Gary be sending out a message?

And sure Glazers and co have heard criticism but do they take any of it on board, it’s always the manager that suffers.
So Ten Hag doesn’t get us Champions League, he’s defo a gonna cos the Glazers will blame him for loss of their money next year.
Ed Woodward left UTD, but nothing to do with his incompetence as CEO.

Haaland would have flopped at United.
He isn't RVP who creates goals from nothing. The guy is quite literally useless without service. Give the guy service and he scores for fun.
Bellingham would have also been surrounded by garbage and would most probably have flopped. Fellaini, etc.

Service is something we have been diabolical at for best part of a decade.
