If they are good enough they will play. Phillips has had plenty of game time as has Parrot. There are some good players at U21 level with potential but they either need loans or prove they are better than any first teamer. I trust Ange'e judgement on them. Some of the better players in the U21's have had injuries as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah I know but it would be so nice to see one or two start playing and then hopefully improve to make regular appearances.
I think sometimes these youngsters just need a leg and play and their improvement playing with the first team improves them faster. Maybe a gamble yes but possibly the same gamble as some the shat players we've purchased and sold etc in the past.
I guess you can never be certain about players until they have played at the top level.

Ederson and Onana are two players who fit the mould. I'm sure there are others. West Ham replaced Rice with Alvarez who had been decent. Got to trust Fabio and the new tech director to find the right one.

Maybe Ange thinks they are not up to it yet or haven't shown enough in training. They get plenty of opportunities to train with the first team.

True, you would hope Ange sees them working everyday.
I guess it also takes a brave manager to blood them too as it's big risk for him and the player if it goes pear shape.
For me just that feeling of a home grown player making it is something that brings me great joy and pride. It's achievement for the whole club as well as the player.

We have a decent crop of youngsters who I hope are given a chance in pre season. Will Lanshear is a striker who has been scoring all season when fit. Tyrese Hall is a CM getting good reviews. Santiago, a winger has good numbers. Abbot, Donley and Dorrington as well.
I really hope we see one or two in pre season and show us something. Along with Phillips and Devine. Not sure if Scarlett will make it.

As I recall, and I could be mistaken but he did start with only one full back either inverting or overlapping at Celtic, obvs we weren't playing the top level teams but I am almost certain he did make adjustments?

Same here and I do agree with the sentiment of him becoming more savvy during games.
I think his plan relies on us scoring first so the oppo team has to come and play but we have come from behind a few times this season to win.
He has brought on Hobby to close games out in the past as well. But that was when we are winning games.

Not all the games first season and I went to approx 3/4s of the home games and hadn't really seen that kinda set up previously so was intrigued, he certainly used both of the FBs in an inverted manner first time around and as I said maybe I just didn't see it as much second but I do remember more of a back three set up during the games but as I said we could probably get away with either or more due to the teams we were playing?

I wonder if Ange during the next two weeks will accelerate his plans and adopt a back three for the remaining games?

True, I'm really intrigued by how much the likes of Sarr, Udogie, BJ and Micky progress next summer.

Lets hope there is next season for him. I fear after the next run of games which there is a real possibility of us getting a hiding in all of them and then last two of season could mean playing relegation fighting teams if they have not gone down already.
There will be a big clamour to replace him. Hopefully
it won't happen but it is a possibility.
I think sometimes we all need our heads shaking. It's because we get a glimmer of what could be and expect it immediately and there's no patience.
We all been conditioned that way to an extent and sadly it's the way the world largely functions these days.

If there is a clamour to replace him (if it even comes to that) who would we go for? Liverpool will get first dibs on a top manager. United might sack Tent peg so we will get 3rd or 4th choice.
Funk that.
Our fans need to learn to have the stomach for a project and not panic like an erratic bird on her period.

I think sometimes these youngsters just need a leg and play and their improvement playing with the first team improves them faster. Maybe a gamble yes but possibly the same gamble as some the shat players we've purchased and sold etc in the past.
I guess you can never be certain about players until they have played at the top level.

You could probably do with a Vic Wanyama type MC? strong and covered the pitch well, would allow the more creative players more of an open role but they type seem a bit thin on the ground or would cost an absolute fortune

Ederson and Onana are two players who fit the mould. I'm sure there are others. West Ham replaced Rice with Alvarez who had been decent. Got to trust Fabio and the new tech director to find the right one.

We defo need to find another Dembele type of player.

If they are good enough they will play. Phillips has had plenty of game time as has Parrot. There are some good players at U21 level with potential but they either need loans or prove they are better than any first teamer. I trust Ange'e judgement on them. Some of the better players in the U21's have had injuries as well.

I read somewhere the other day in Ange's 2nd season he has been known to change the defensive formation with only one full back bombing forward leaving 3 at the back with 3 in midfield and almost 4 up top.
Time will tell I guess.

Fair point you need to trust the guys who look at the players and hope they crack on and get it right, they will know a WAY lot more than the average fan also

yeah, thats does make me excited if true. A bit more stability at the back but retaining the attack attack ethic.

I would like to see Udogie stay deeper moving forward
with his physicality and one v one defending I think he's more useful sniffing out counter attacks than he is getting forward, he's not really very creative in terms of crossing or passing

Agreed. I don't think he is an creative as Porro for example. But then Porro did start as winger so it is to be expected I guess?

yeah of course, he's not going to be a perfect player, no shame in having some weaknesses especially at his age

I wonder if Ange during the next two weeks will accelerate his plans and adopt a back three for the remaining games?
Woolwich went to City, played conservative and got a point. But against us, having just watched the Newcastle game I wonder if Lego head will do the same?

Next season*
