<I will take no advice from Rangers fans on moaning about penalties not being awarded after Sunday>

past 40-50 years.

If that's a penalty the games gone.
He wins the ball and in the process the attacker puts his foot under the defenders foot so gets stood on. Both have every right to go for it.
Credit to Celtic last night, they started smartly, dug in well, defended well and kept themselves theoretically in the tie. As much as I would enjoy them getting humped, i'm a tad concerned that Rodgers is learning how to approach bigger European ties, something that's been their downfall for a while.
Whilst that approach will still get you beat of Bayern, at Europa level that approach could get you much further.
Wasn't impressed with Bayern as a team but they've got lots of individual quality.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As someone previously mentioned, it's a very similar scenario to the Johnston v Fabio Silva one when Johnston won the ball first but Silva ran into his leg after.
All the Rangers fans thought that was a penalty on the day funnily enough 🤷
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That last night was absolutely nothing like the Silva incident at Ibrox, to try and compare the two is nonsense
If Upamecano was falling on his ar$e and stopped Engels running by stamping on his foot I'd see your point
There's a difference between touching the ball.....and winning the ball
Irrelevant him touching the ball. Its still a foul standing on opponents foot like that.
Its considered careless and thats still a foul

Utter nonsense
In a 50/50 situation, which is what that was.....whoever gets there first is the winner of the 50/50, whoever doesn't is late, and if they get stood on by the players that's just won the ball, that's not a foul
Like saying if Engels had slide tackled, didn't win the ball, and Upamecano had stood on him, that would be a foul, which of course it would not be
In situations like this, the touch on the ball and the impact it has on the whole situation is absolutely relevant
If Upamecano merely got a nick on it, and Engels looked like favourite to get the next touch before Upamecanos foot lands on him...that would be a pen
What actually happened was, Upamecanos touch was enough to take it away from Engels to the extent Engels got absolutely nothing on the ball and wasn't likely to get the next touch on the ball either, so in that situation, he's a player that has lost a 50/50, and it's not a foul if the guy that's just won the 50/50, accidentally stands on his foot
‘ Like saying if Engels had slide tackled, didn't win the ball, and Upamecano had stood on him, that would be a foul, which of course it would not be’

So you've both totally misread what I've said
Like saying if Engels had slide tackled, didnt win th ball, and Upamecano stood on him, that would be a foul.....ON ENGELS.......which of course it wouldnt be.
With Starfelt/Sakala, Starfelt didn't win the ball, slid in, Sakala stood on Starfelt, and because Starfelt is sliding in on the player that has possession of the ball, and this is what takes Sakala's foot away, its a fouland a penalty.
Try reading lads
It’s hard to understand what you mean. It would be a foul, which of course wouldn’t be a foul?!
Upamecano wasn’t in control of anything. He had the slightest of touches on the ball and it was 50/50 who would get to the ball next.
On Starfelt/Sakala-ive no idea how anyone can think that if you stand on someone’s foot, then it’s your foul.
Looks like Michael Ballack is utterly ridiculous as well as he seems to think it was a foul and a penalty.
I get why it wasn’t given-just think in the modern game, that was a 50/50 subjective decision.
my irk is that if its the other way around Bayern get the penalty.
and if its anywhere else on the pitch its likely a foul

Know what I've noticed?
I've seen Celtic fans say it was a penalty, and some - admittedly the minority - that say it wasn't.
Every bear seems to be falling over themselves to say it wasn't though. Every one.
Know what this tells me, as an amatuer psychologist?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's really not that hard to understand
If someone tries and fails to win or get a touch on the ball, then the player that does win the ball or is in control of it, is under absolutely no obligation to avoid stepping on the foot of a player that's basically challenging them
Starfelt slid in and didn't win the ball, he challenged Sakala...and Sakala is under no obligation to get his foot placement correct to avoid stepping on or stumbling over Starfelt
Upamecano and Engels challenged for the ball...Upamecano got a touch on the ball, Engels didn't......having got that touch to take control, Upamecano is under no obligation to get his foot placement correct to avoid stepping on or stumbling over the foot of a player that he's just beaten to the ball
If a penalty was to be awarded for a foul on Engels after that, then if the same principle was to be applied, Sakala would not have got a penalty, it should have been a foul against Sakala for stepping on Starfelt.....which of course, did not happen, and nor should it have
