Do you remember when Spurs spent 140 million + in one transfer window? Recently, you've cut down your spending but just before and after ramos was sacked, lots of money was spent. I'm gonna try and find some stats when I can.
There it is: http://therepublikofmancunia.com/stats-uniteds-spending-vs-arsenal-chelsea-liverpool-city/
Confirming what I thought.
People when stating this fail to take into account some of the sales we have made to balance the books. Carrick, Keane and berbatov spring to mind, but there were plenty of others.
You almost wouldn't blame Everton is they got their own Sheikh and tried to buy the league.
Yeh but vermanitor, we have always done it the proper way ie selling off players we don't want or need anymore for profit or for instance players that wanted to leave ie Keane and Berbatov then splashing the cash. Were not like chelsea or Mancity who basically have cheated their way to where they are today in terms of splashing money like it's gone out of fashion.
Quit denying the obvious. Its not as if you're able to manage your transfers and sales as well as my club.....
There is no way £135m was spent in the Ramos era of little more than 12 months.
I remember we bought Woodgate and Hutton. Then Modric before season end. £32mm total
We then sold Berbatov for £30m and bought Pav for £14m
Gomes for £8m
Corluka for £8m
Gio for £5m
Can't think of anymore but that report is bull
Plus the fact that money is also spent on wages and we are no where near the top in that respect.
Don, you certainly haven't done a Chelsea or Man City, but you have Joe Lewis and he has bankrolled a lot of big purchases. The thing Spurs have done well is to keep the wage bill down, so although the players cost a lot initially, if they don't work out you can sell them on easily, as they don't have extortionate wage demands.
I would say Spurs' strategy has been a scattergun approach of buying a lot of promising hyped-up young players and hoping some of them turn out to be worth it and that you can hold onto the talents you do find. For a long time it looked as if the talented players simply lost their way when they went to Spurs, but recently you have made much more astute signings so even if those players aren't instant hits there are experienced players who can help them develop - case in point = Gareth Bale. There's no denying Spurs have spent a lot, but by not overpaying them they have removed a lot of the risk.
I do think the Adebayor deal is not right though - you shouldn't be able to have a player on those kind of wages playing for you unless you are willing to pay them, because otherwise Man City are just subsidising your team, and allowing you to artificially keep your wage bill under control. Having said that, you're hardly the only club to be exploiting the ridiculous rules around loaning players to play against your rivals...
Spurs NET transfer spending over the :
1. ENIC era has been 135m
2. past 3+ seasons has been 19m
Which speaks volumes for the way the club has moved.
Rash/panic buys gone. Prudence in.
ROI now much better than at the beginning.
In Levy we trust.
"I do think the Adebayor deal is not right though - you shouldn't be able to have a player on those kind of wages playing for you unless you are willing to pay them, because otherwise Man City are just subsidising your team, and allowing you to artificially keep your wage bill under control."
What is wrong is that a club should be able to distort the wage market so badly that now they cannot offload frivolous buys because no one else can warrant those wages.
"but you have Joe Lewis and he has bankrolled a lot of big purchases"
. At every level.
Levy has not bank rolled our signings everything has come out of the THFC purse, just to prove the point if he was going to do things like that he would just biuld our new stadium out of his own pocket, that would work out a lot cheaper for him if he was prepared to do that as there would be no interest to pay back.
Hello Henry and Benayoun?
Pot and Kettle?
I do think the Adebayor deal is not right though - you shouldn't be able to have a player on those kind of wages playing for you unless you are willing to pay them, because otherwise Man City are just subsidising your team
-------------------------------------------
Adebayor is not worth those wages. City (also Man utd and Chelsea) are fault for inflating salaries so therefore they are going to have the same problem with every player they want rid off.
Prime example = Wayne Bridge.
Its just a poor attempt at reverse psychology.
I never understand why Everton have got no money with their fanbase and them being Premiership stalwarts. They must be very badly run!
In a backward way Moyes is having a dig at the support he is getting at Everton.
Explain RBDB - he bankrolls you, your money didn't come from nowhere. Sure he doesn't manage the decisions, he just provided the seed capital, but given that other clubs have to borrow against their assets to invest in players and training facilities and stadia and management and other assets, why do you not think his wealth makes a difference?
I quite like moyes but he can pipe down
Show your proof that he has spent his own money and not THFC's money.
Everton a agrred a £7.5 million shirt sponsor over three years.
Tottenham get £10 million a season shirt sponsor for just league games.
Sorry bitter g00nies but Levy really is that good.

You have hit rock-bottom, but refuse to stop digging.
When, like I and others, have BEEN THROUGH the PLC accounts for the past 10+ yrs to understand how the club has been operated, then come back to us.
Until then, the answer to your next postings are :
. At every level.
A few contributors (especially from other clubs) seem to be rather missing the key points:
1. NET transfer spend is very low, especially given the relative success we're now realising (and where we came from)
2. Tottenham are currently (for the next few months, at least) a PLC. They're not 'bankrolled' by Joe Lewis and - over that period you describe - I'd be surprised if we've posted anything other than a modest loss
You'll find when we make big signings we pay them over a few years, for example with the Modric transfer we're paying that spread over 4 years.
Have you actually seen the cost of our team?
Also Moyes shut up, you're useless with money. Look at all his big money signings, they've all been pants apart from Fellaini.
Just look at this summer
Out
O' Hara £5m
Hutton £5m?
Palacous & Crouch £12m?
Keane £3M
In
Parker £5m
Spending well above our means arnt we?

Tell that to fans that spend thousands per season on tickets, merchandise and tv subscriptions.
Tell it to our league shirt sponsors or cup shirt sponsors or our kit sponsors. Or other executive club sponsors.
