I'm beginning to feel alienated in my views on Barcelona insofar as I don't dislike them at all, I don't begrudge their success and I don't believe they receive unfairly superior treatment from officials.
It is so easy to isolate incidents which appear to have gone favourably for them and forget (or in most cases I suspect, not have seen at all) the incidents that go against them. It really riles me the way many posters on here and even friends of mine constantly claim they can't win the Champions League without the referees giving them unfair assistance. The fact is this is the best team (by some distance) in living memory. They play a brand of football so proficiently as to render all opponents significantly inferior the vast majority of the time.
As a fan of not just my team (Manchester United) but football more-so, I gain nothing but enjoyment from watching the best team in the world. They fill me with such emotion with the art they put on nearly every performance.
To endure so many people denigrating Barcelona is particularly annoying and really smacks of jealousy. Why not sit back and admire, perhaps even give them the praise they deserve, as once their dominance over the world ends (as all great teams eventually see the end of their cycle) I guarantee you feelings of nostalgia will be rife.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I can only hope there are still others who share my admiration.

I'm a Madrid fan and I completely agree.
Prepare to be slaughtered though.

All the talk of conspiracy in the match thread was much exaggerated. They are simply the best around and there is a lot of jealously around that...

New guy here, long time reader, first time poster. Just thought I would say spot on from the OP. People have short memories and often limited and selective. The irony is, no one remembers the stonewall penalty via abbiatti in the first game after 15 minutes. Should have and would have been an away goal and red. But hey ho, dont let facts get in the way of truth.
