With the alleged marker of 80 points now in the bag who is prepared to say what is what on our eventually total, and when we will be declared as promoted.
There are still a few games to go, and as we all know football can be full of twists and turns, surprises and last minute drama. Indeed, if there was ever a time for cool heads then this is it.
Martin Ling is still hot on our heels with his good footballing Torquay side, and of course the very heavily criticised Sluggy Steve Evans heading up the Creepy Crawley can never be discounted for wanting to take the championship away from us. He has disciplinary problems though and has just stripped his Captain of his armband, and is not winning his games in hand of late.
So that said who is prepared to stick their neck out for a bit of fun and forecast what is going to happen and how it will all end up. Its a very tight call, but I still think we will need at least 93 points to secure the title, and possibly Crawley just piping Torquay to second place.
2,4,6,8 time to speculate

I put my thoughts on your last board. Not going to go through it all again. But, if I had to have a bet, it would be us 2nd to the creepies, Torquay 3rd. That would do for me.

SF you've posted some excellent articles recently, please keep them coming!
I'm over my Tuesday panic attack...I was really worried when I saw the team. After that excellent 3 points I'm feeling much better!
I think 90 points would be enough to take the title. Torquay have got to play Southend and Crewe. Crawley have Crewe tomorrow and then a lot of games against strugglers who will be desperate for points. They also have suspensions to key players after the Bradford fracas. Shrewsbury have 3 home games on the trot after tomorrow and are unbeaten at home; I can see them finishing strongly. My main point is that points are likely to be dropped by all the top five.
So, on the spot! I think we'll finish top with Shrewsbury second and Torquay third. Crawley fourth, Southend, Pox and Crewe for the remaining play off places.
I hope I'm right!

Don,
Thanks for your kind words, appreciated. I used to post on the old beeb site as Swinfan 58. How I love this club, and all the great guys we have had over the years as players, managers and so on. The old 606 was good and it seems a great shame many of the old posters have slipped away. We used to have great fun with Red Gollum, Mondeaux, Bassett Gas, Billbst, London Red, and many other Reds. Their were many other names as well and to be honest I forget them now, only a year ago though it seems a lot longer. Another dozen regulars on here and we could have a laugh.
Bassett gas was a gas with lots of double innuendo and slightly toilet humour, but in good taste, an office wallah of the highest order, he had a sense of humour.
Just wish we could get them all back.

Yes, I was on the old beeb site and remember all those guys, it was a great site. Hopefully we can build this one up, there is a core of regulars but we could do with a few more.
I haven't seen Notts Red on here for a while, he's an excellent contributor.
Do you remember Graham French, played for us briefly 63/64 before going on to a life of notoreity? I've written an article on him for The Washbag's 'Hall of Shame'...it's going out in April despite the fact that no-one will remember him! I've also written an article on our first promotion in 1963, also going out in April I think.
I seem to get more nostalgic by the day...a sign of age???

Well, Redgollum is still here! Though not in a good mood 'cos it's the end of the tax year & am booking the cooks!
Bassett was a laugh, Mondy I have email contact with, but he says that this site won't accept overseas addresses. Notts Red is also on my email list, but I haven't heard from him for some time - I hope he's OK.
I can just about remember Graham French. Did he play in the youth cup final v MU? As I remember, I wasn't impressed, quite a large guy who wasn't very mobile for a winger - mind you we had Don & Buzzer for comparison. I think that he only played 5 or 6 times for us. Bruce Walker was a better bet.
But, more nostalgia, Do you remember Frank Haffey? He came in as a great signing, but left without trace!
