Official Wigan 1vs0 Man Utd Match Thread FT

NO WUMMING OR OFF TOPIC COMMENTS(As Who's Kissing Cameras? would say)

Relegation-haunted Wigan face the unenviable task of trying to halt Manchester United's Premier League title charge on Wednesday evening.
The Latics head into a North West derby at the DW Stadium knowing that a positive result will lift them out of the relegation zone.

The odds would appear to be stacked in the Red Devils' favour, with Sir Alex Ferguson's side having won their last eight games in a row - the longest winning sequence in the Premier League this season, and the longest within a season since 2008/09.

United have also come out on top in 12 of their last 17 games on the road and have already picked up 14 more points on their travels this season (39) than they did in the whole of the 2010/11 campaign.

Last meeting
A 5-0 win was secured at Old Trafford after Conor Sammon's first-half red card gave the visitors an uphill task. Dimitar Berbatov helped himself to a hat-trick and Antonio Valencia netted against his former employers after Ji-sung Park's early opener. The Reds' last trip to the DW Stadium produced a 4-0 triumph, with Javier Hernandez netting twice. The Reds have a goals record of 21-0 from the last five fixtures with Wigan.

Manager's thoughts
Wigan Athletic's recent improvement has delighted manager Roberto Martinez - but he knows even better will be required to stop Manchester United as he said: "Against Manchester United you have to be perfect and we know now we can be perfect against these sides."

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes his squad's togetherness has played a vital part in establishing an eight-point lead at the top of the table, saying: "The unity and spirit you get when players stay together is now coming through."

I admit i have been quite guarded about our results and league position over the last few weeks but i think come this evening the title will be as good as over. We will beat qpr and city won't win at arsenal. That would leave us with a seven point gap at the top at least and goal difference is now irrelevant. Whilst anything is possible there is no way we would ever let such a lead slip.

The point of the article? United are champions now so lets enjoy it and mancini will be sacked in the summer. Showing how city are just another chelsea in the making. Without any league titles. And i don't buy in to this media acceptance that city will inevitably win titles over the coming years. This year was their chance with so many big teams under performing and united going thru clear transition. It will only get harder for them to win titles and they will also have to deal with their total collapse this year.
