Well, 3 games in and we're seeing a similar frustration with the 1-day team.
Bresnan isn't anything other than a T20 player for me. He is a handy player, but with an average of around 37 - Is he really the answer? I appreciate he has improved, but I think we have better options.
Anderson - Did well in the first 1 dayer and his first 7 overs we're outstanding in the 2nd. Since then, back to the wayward, indisciplined rubbish.
Broad - Having a difficult spell. I personally would stick with him. I see light at the end of the tunnel, if he starts to bowl fuller, and think he is in a rut. He is never a number 8 in one-dayers - that is appalling. Do these people not look at his stats AND performances in the one day game?
My team would be as follows: I am not saying this team is the finished article, but I would rather stick a few young, hungry lads in the mix. We need greater depth to the battibng. Pace off seems to be proven in the shorter format of the game .
Trott, despite being an excellent number 3, needs moving to 4 to compensate the S/R caused by him and Cook. In this case, if the two attacking players (Kieswetter and Pieterson) go early, Cook and Trott can rebuild the innings.
1: Cook (c)
2: Kieswetter (wk)
3: Pieterson
4: Trott
5: Taylor
6: Morgan
7: Patel
8: Woakes
9: Swann
10: Broad
11: Dernbach (Give him a few more games)
Reserves: Bell, Buttler (wk), Anderson, Finn, Rashid
I think we also need to search for that elusive left armer - so ensure the likes of Topley, Payne, Wood are involved in the Lions teams.
Hales and Stokes would be my next "cabs off the rank"...

I think there is room for two in the top three.
What do you think about KP at six?

Stokes seems to have the knack of breaking partnerships and that is a talent.
I'm not impressed with Dernbach, he seems out of his depth against top batsmen.
I took a look at the match in which Bell scored his only century. It was against India in 2007. Cook opened and Bell was at 3, both scored centuries with Bell 126 not out S/R 113. I believe Bell must bat at 3 or be left out as I'm sure there are better number 6 batsmen available.
Bell's brilliant century last year in the CB40 final at Lords, batting at 3, tells a story.
Cook
Kieswetter
Bell
Trott
Pietersen
Morgan
That for me is the ideal order/ Pietersen needs to take more responsibility and I think at 5 he will do that.

KP would retire from one day cricket if asked to bat at 6.

There were reports of him retiring after WC.Luckily for us he has carried on.We cant afford to lose him.He should stay at 4.He will come good. When we won our only ICC tournament he was batting at 3 and was brilliant.I wont have him at 3 in ODIs but he should bat at 4.We need an in form Kp if we want to become serious WC contenders.
BTW ginger plz no bopara. This guy is nowhere near international standard. He has proven that time and time again.Time to give young Stokes a chance. What do you feel about my side?

I did hint at another batting allrounder.
Stokes sounds ok.

Shanky, your team has too many new players. The selectors will never be so bold.

Looks fine.
I have never seen Hales bat. I take it he is no slouch?

Ginger
Dont you think we need to be a bit bold?We have been conservative for the past 20 yrs and we all know what we have acheived in limited overs cricket. The only time we were bold with our selections was in the World T20 and we won.I am not saying that we will automatically become world beaters by picking new players but its a step in the right direction. We still havent come to terms with the modern day one day game.We need these youngsters in the side. And I havent picked these youngsters just bcoz they are young.I have picked them bcoz IMO they are the best suited for that particular role in our one day side.
