Barca-Chelsea Combined XI

As the the Catalan invasion of Stamford Bridge looms large in Chealsea Fc Fans, it isn't a bad idea to think of a Combined XI of both teams to give Chealsea fans an oppertunity to try and think something diffrent rather than just stress out and feel depressed.

You are free to come up with your own combined XIs. the only restriction is that the players you chose have to be from current squads and fit to play the 1st leg.

Here is mine:
Valdez( best in the world in one on one situations + best ball playing goalkeeper in the world)

Alves. Terry. Puyol. Cole( would prefer Abidal if fit)

Xavi Busquets. Iniesta
( No Comptetion here)

Messi. Drogba. Sanchez

As a man utd fan look at the team that beat barca 1-0 in semi final and then look at the teams in 2009 and 2011 final and you will see we had less energy and less ball winners in the team. In preseason our team was completely changed and most of barca's starters from the cl final played apart from messi and we comfortably beat them 2-1 culd easily have been 4 or 5-1. I think they had there first shot on target after 60 mins but my point is you need to play a team for the game.

The team that played in the final played ok against chelsea but you need to play a different team against barca not the same. Carlos querioz was a big part of the reason why we did beat barca as he did training for short space pressing. I wish we still had querioz as he would have influenced saf to play a more aggressive team like in 2008 we had a lot of ball winners and keepers, in 2009 and 2011 we had a more flimsy midfield with giggs starting. I reckon scholes should have played the 2011 final instead of giggs as when he came on even if late players couldn't get the ball off him, he was laying it off getting stuck in.

Cleverly played the same way in pre season against barca and even wilshire did last season with fabregas. The point is you need the whole team to be able to win the ball and we had passengers against barca who didn't fight for every ball and stood off hence why barca beat us 3-1 and we folded without a fight.

Yes, but he's a much better keeper than Valdes.

Going to be as honest as possible.
Let's face it, We're a good team but Barcelona are the best team in the world. So....

Cech,
D.Alves, Luiz, Pique, Abidal,
Xavi, Busquets,
Messi, Iniesta, Mata,
A.Sanchez.

Valdes,
Ivanovic, Puyol, Terry, A.Cole,
Fabregas, Romeu,
Ramires, Pedro,Tello,
Drogba.

Why would you put Valdez over Cech? Cech's a much better keeper. The rest of your team is spot on
----------------------------------------------------------
No he isn't, he doesn't have to play the ball right from his own penalty box. He is allowed to hoof the ball deep into oposition's half. He always have a deffensive cover of his defenders right in front of him. He doesn't have to handle half as many one on ones as valdez.
Valdes doesn't have these luxries yet he has been the most consistant Goalkeeper in La Liga and CL for last three years.
