The Forehand

According to the official definition, the modern forehand is one of the most spectacular and devastating shots in the game.

With modern technology and techniques, today's players can use it to hit winners from almost any position on the court.

Whether your love for tennis comes from playing or watching it (or both),
the forehand as the shot is the one that gives you most pleasure.

Watching the pros hit it with all the variety of spice and purpose never fail to leave me in awe especially as my heroic amateur attempts rarely end up as I'd like them to.

Is it the forehand that defines the player?

Some have the natural power, or outstanding hand to eye coordination, others don't and then their game suffers: for originally tennis was meant to be played with the attacking style.

Forehands, just like players are a matter of taste: the mighty, super-timed one of Federer, the moonballing, game prolonging and sapping, physically unsustainable one of Nadal, flat, breath-taking projectiles from Berdych, bossing and gutsy lasers from Novak, or shy and underused one of Murray. Then there is Dolgopolov's cobra-bite or Delpo's flying bombs.

And that's just those hit from the baseline.

A forehand tells a lot about a player...

I'm pretty sure that Isner is going to land in Nole's quarter...

One thing I can't get my head around is which clever cookie thought of having Masters 100 back to back: first IW & Miami and now Madrid & Rome. It's just cruel and ridiculous.
they should've had next' weeks small tournaments squeezed between Rome and Madrid, and thus give an option of a small breather to players.

Yes..though it looks like teh FO is teh one does not submit to the star system....and is not that keen to help Nadal.

But yes I noticed the French/German => Fed and Easy Spaniards to Nadal.

Things might change this year as the trickery was uncovered.

Wow, I did not realise about them being back to back. Why didn't Fed play MC then? It would have been good practice and then rest in Rome.

It's really hypocrit as they moved Hamburg for that very reason. At least Hamburg had a roof and coudl have a decent and guaranteed schedule. Imagine a messed up by rain Rome? They would all pull out before the final.

Anyway, that should benefit Federer ...sorry

i hope they put either isner or DP in rafa's side but they will probs make it isner with murray or novak and dp probs with feds and rafa can waltz it

Well, Tenez, it's down to RG to save the day.
I'm expecting Fed in Nadal's half, last year's balls and Isner in Nadals quarter. No Spaniards in his half, either. Nothing less.

As said Luvsport, I don't think the FO is rigging as much....or if they do, it would not be to help Rafa.

Having said that they have also been using a software for the draw but it might be a different one. It has been interesting to read that the 3 slams guilty of making the Djoko/Fed semis have been using the same software company!

Not sure about the same balls as last year. They were heavily criticised and remember, they are babolat's....Rafa's sponsor. So, it was simply a mistake from Babolat in my view as Dunlop said they had been using a special rubber mixture. The balls at the FO should be the same as Madrid and Rome....so we will have a better idea at what they use in a couple of weeks.
