We must save this great club.

In this era of double dip recession, the euro crisis, climate change and world poverty in general, surely there can be no greater crisis facing this planet than the decline of that great football club from across the city.

Comrades,we must all do what we can to save it from the abyss of second tier football- if only we'd realised in time that the Scottish manager was on a secret mission to destroy the prospects for the two clubs in the city of Birmingham.

Not content with dragging Birmingham City ( a bunch of upstarts from Small Heath with no history to speak of) down into the lower league, he has the tenacity to engineer the fall of one Aston Villa - a club of genuine greatness, a club who have won seven FA cups, several league titles as well as the greatest club competition in the world (honest, ask your parents, grandparents and great grandparents, they will confirm all this is true).

And now we are at a crossroads. We cannot stand by and allow this national institution to fall.

I call upon our close neighbours, those of the dark blue and white stripes from the kingdom of Sandwell, and the troops who wear the Old Gold, to do everything in their power to save this great club from oblivion. West Bromwich, let your opponents win on Saturday, Wolverhampton, muster up a strength yet unseen to defeat Wigan.

I call upon those from further afield, from Shepherd's Bush and Lancashire, to jettison your own survival, for the greater good of maintaining the status of the Claret and Blues.

And Birmingham fans, powerless to bring a direct bearing on the events of the next few weeks as they unfold, all we can do is hope and pray. Forget our own aspirations of play off glory, of a return to the land where we have never comfortably belonged. We cannot waste our prayers on that selfish dream,but save these for the our poor helpless neighbours, too powerless to help themselves
