I can't help but think...

... That this is David Martin, all over again

Ok so what do you suggest.

We wait till they do get better and are proven and then we cant afford them or we take a gamble which won't cost much on a player showing potential.

typo,
meant 'ball across the box'.

I agree with you Pablo. I know we have to manage our limited resources well, but considering how we wasted millions on supposedly experienced players, I cannot see anything wrong in taking a punt on a promising young player - when they are still affordable as you point out.

Absolutley, if this was done along side of signing experienced players under Davies and Jewel we may not have been in the state we are in now as regard not being able to sign players at the level we are playing in

Nothing wrong with taking a punt at a young player, it's the assumption that they will improve. It is as you say a punt or gamble. We shouldn't criticise the management if they don't improve but I bet we will.

Dave Martin was clearly brought in to supply crosses for Hulse.

Not Martin's fault Hulse was then sold just before the season started. I presume the coaching staff then spent a few months trying to turn an out and out winger into a hard-working wide midfielder (hence NC comment "he's having a hard time adapting to our style of play" before giving up and moving him on.

Unless we have a secret plan to sign a CF with a good head I see no point in having an out-&-out winger in the squad. How many goals do we score from corners FFS? I bet its one of the lowest ratios in the league.

We already have enough players able to play wide in the Squad. The priorities should be:

1) Traditional CF to lead the line
2) Cover at LB
3) Midfield General
4) 12 month loan of CB as cover for Barks

Sort those 4 out and I'll be more than happy. Tinker with something that isn't really one of our main problems while letting the top-4 issues twist in the wind and I'll be annoyed.

Agree with everything you have said there Wideboy, you've summarised my thoughts on the Martin situation. However

"We already have enough players able to play wide in the Squad. The priorities should be:"

Dont agree with this. I only see Ward as a genuine wide player at DCFC.

WHAT???

We dont have 1 natural wide player, Ward has done well out there but other than him Davies is not good enough and green wasnt good enough out there either.

I think this is the sort of player we need, we have no creativity other than Ward.

Have to agree with Clark, weve had to do with wide stop gaps the most of the season in Green and Ward. If you asked them neither would say that is their prefered position

What about Conor Doyle!

have to agree, we lack wingers, but Clough never uses wingers as wingers in my opinion.

Still, on the whole, Clough's young signings have done well, so I am willing to see what this lad has to offer, if he comes.
