Hey Boots, Only yesterday my ex truckie buddie was talking about speedway at the shay, Big crowds, Goggles for the kids, Kenny Carter etc and how at least 10 double deckers would be parked on the main road waiting to come back to the Hudd, He too said it was a great night out,

Kenny Carter .. Now there's a story Elora .. and not half ..Gifted but much troubled .. ..

I moved onto Stock Cars after that ~ Odsal & Belle Vue .. bought a brand new V X 490 .. Eeh Fo'alks did stare .. Birds Galore m8 .. ..

One of my Anti Establishment heroes was Dougie Cronshaw .. What a name eh ..

Only ever went to the Odsal Stockys once Boots,, It wasnt my cup of tea,,

I got into it via a Multi Millionaire Scrap metal dealer (Ever known a poor one .. ?) from Milnsbridge .. Stu Balmforth .. Very Seductive mix .. alas though dicing with death regularly on the tracks he died young from illness .. .. Much missed by many ..

It was The Big C Myth .. As nasty a killer today as ever it was yester year .. Lived at Slaithwaite and a Real Big Larger than life character who although had a small set of premises underneath the arches (on cobblestones I lay) in Milnsbridge had an empire throughout the vast north of England ..

He both drove Stock Cars and Promoted & Very Successful in both he was too becoming Track Owner & World Champion Winning Driver ..

PS: Emley are STILL Enjoying Great Success finishing above Mid Table this season .. Sister Village Club Lepton Highlanders ain't doing 2 bad either .. Another m8 Jimmy Martin Manages them Sh it how many clues does Mirf need .. ..

Great memory ! (We touched on Gravros & his garage at Denholme many many moons ago) I remember the rest 'cept Greg Kentwell, I'd forgotten him ! BUT. That was him with the cowboy hat on the presentation lap ...wasn't it ?

I was at that Bishop Auckland game, & to me at least, Yeah, A very big crowd that day...my memory must be screwed though ! I thought it was 6-1 , I remember the Bishop fans parading their banners round the speedway track before the kick off.... & the crescendo of 'Jeer's' as they passed the Skircoat shed. But it was all harmless & good fun.
