For those of you ardent Town supporters I thought I would add a few lines about a wonderful evening at County Ground yesterday.
The charity bash was all about raising funds for Wilts Air Ambulance, a very worthy cause. Two sides contested the game and there was a certain amount of relevance as the two sides were managed by Lou Macari and PDC. Full facts of the teams can be found on the official club site and some details on the Advertiser site as well.
The evening was hugely enjoyable and the football was to a good standard. Our old friend Rockin Robin got in on the act and ran the length of the pitch, like PDC at Northampton, to smoother PDC when he scored his first of three goals. Other antics by the bird included doing a send up of PDC stood outside the dugout, complete with waving arms and legs, which brought much applause from the crowd. Rather notably Christian Roberts and Lee Peacock both scored a brace apiece, in amongst the ten or more goals scored during the 90 minutes, including a magnificent PDC chip over the keeper.
With a large flash of sheet lightning and massive rumble of thunder the rain came, and for all of those down at the front of the Arkells getting soaked, the Town End was opened to get them into the dry. What happened next was highly predictable, the whole Town End became a choir, and numerous chants of "Stand-up, stand-up for the champions" soon started to ring around the ground and then numerous chants centred around PDC himself, including the now mandatory, " Paolo!!Give us a wave" and of course he did.
A magnificent atmosphere engulfed the ground and many West Ham supporters also came as Julian D was also playing, if you didn't make it, then you missed a truly memorable evening in which both sides when they warmed up played some really good stuff ages considered at a decent pace. Many old Town faves and some younger guys from Media, Chris Wise and Chris Tanner (STFC media man)put in decent performances as did the coach/trainers of our present set up. I believe over £6K was collected and the figure was still growing. PDC did the full 90 minutes and the class still shows through.

I'm glad that it was a great night! You can tell that I have finished work until Tuesday!
But, who would have subbed pdc? Not anyone who wanted a future at the club.
As for Lou, I reckon that chant was invented by my bro., in 1986. A quiet Town End, when we were doing poorly, & a voice comes out "Stand up Lou & get them going - Oh,sorry, you are standing up!"
