Danny welbeck

Welbeck world class? Lets not go overboard. The boys very good. But world class in his position is hard to achieve. He would have to be a regular 30 a season man for that sorta tag. I see him hitting the 20's. His link up play is good.

Plus he is 21, most players that go onto be world class usually by that age have shown the promise or the ability. In terms of being a world class player, he hasnt shown that level of play.

Plus his role maybe reduced if fergie decides to go 433 next year if kagawa is bought in, which is plausible.

People go on about Welbeck's poor finishing. Its a fair point to make, but I do feel we create far more chances with him on the pitch than we do with Hernandez, say.

Its been a great first full season for him. He'll only get better.

imo, if we started Berbs ahead of Welbeck this season.....well who knows what could of happened, but I think we would have scored more

No he wouldn't. There have been some great forwards in the past who made their name through having a great footballing brain rather than scoring goals, Stuichkov, Bergkamp and Sheringham are good example. I think out of those three only Stoichkov ever scored 30 in a season, and that once, in Bulgaria.

That's it.... I get looked at like an idiot sometimes when I say Welbeck could become world class, but I am not talking about his striking abilities but his footballing brain.

I think back to his lay off to Anderson against Spurs (?)... Genius. His shooting will improve, he will likely get 20 goals next season. imho. But his link up play and intelligence around the box could elevate him to world class status.

I'd be interested to see him play the #10 role, on occasion too. I think it is a role he could really adjust to.

BTW Stretty..... Cantona only ever got above 20 goals in one season, if I recall properly. I guess he just wasn't good enough

His link up play is as good an anybodies, although he isn't quite where he needs to be, you can see some of the things he tried are pure genius, he reads the game so well.

I remember the game vs Arsenal when he got injured, his form those few weeks was amazing, but he is bound to have blips he is young. You only have to watch us with him in the team to realise our football is so much better when he plays.

I don't know if he wil ever be in the 'world class' bracket, but he can certainly be a very good player for us. That back heel to set up (I think Rooney) vs Arsenal was just beautiful.

If I was a United fan I would single out the Everton game most as the result that lost you the title. No way should United be losing 2 goal leads at home with so much on the line.

Don't think Welbeck will ever be good enough to be world class either.

Interestingly Spurtle.... Welbeck was out of this world in that Everton game. Unplayable.

Both he and Rooney were very good in that game. I guess it shows the frailty of the defence up. Vidic was a big miss for you this season.
