On a Completely Different Note!

Following on from the weekend, having had time on the golf course today to review our season and of course other clubs too.

Firstly considering all things I am not too unhappy with 4th place, however as well as Chelsea have done (and full credit is due to them) I am still going to be a Bayern fan come Saturday evening!

I have to say Well Done to Arsenal, horrible start to the season which lasted much longer than our poor start (I think they were 17th in October) to rally and come back and claim 3rd spot was certainly a fine achievement. We will renew our rivalry next season!!

Manchester City may well have bought the PL Title, but being honest so did Blackburn, Chelsea & United before them. Possibly only Arsenal can lay claim to have won it without paying huge transfer fees.

So congratulations to City & their fans, enjoy the return from the last 44 years in the wilderness. Maybe Spurs can emulate that in the next few years.

Newcastle have been a breath of fresh air & I hope their re-emergence continues under Alan Pardew because it will also ensure that the other top clubs do not get complacent.........................................

So whilst keeping my faith that we will be starting off in the CL Qualifying next season and not the Europa League, what do I think our aspirations should be for next season?

Well, additional quality players would be great. A top class goal scorer, another centre back, two additional full backs as back up to KW & BAE, another goalkeeper that looks to have a PL future plus another winger option to push Bale & Lennon.

If this was to happen then I think we would comfortably challenge for the top 4 again and hopefully the title in 2-3 years time. Without strengthening I think we can challenge for top 4, however quality additions would make it more likely we could achieve these aspirations.

Like all fans I am hoping for next season to be the one where we finally win another trophy, whether its the Carling Cup, The FA Cup, The PL or the CL (unlikely) and if we do then I hope we do it with cavalier open football, which is the Spurs way and that we entertain an enthrall fans of all teams with our style of football.

I never said shedloads of money, but Arsenal surely could have spent more on new players than they have done in recent years.

Wenger's already said he's been required to make a profit for the last few years.

do you think we're bottom of that table for the fun of it?

As a fan, I can't wait for next season, I think it's going to be an epic battle.
We'll strengthen, though not as much as in past seasons, United will too, and add to the backbone of good young players who'll have another season's experience under their belt.
Spurs first 11 is as good as any, you just need a bit more depth for when you need to freshen things up in the 2nd half of the season, plus you won't have this nonsense from the F.A. about will Harry stay or go which must have been unsettling, both of these I think were factors in your loss of form, and I think your 'big' players will stay; in the past you've been at the mercy of other clubs cherry picking, I don't see that as an issue these days as they can surely see the potential at the club for at least CL qualification and even silverware.
Arsenal won't make the same mistake of leaving it until the last second to bring in a raft of new players which I think hindered them at the start, but they need to sort out the Van Persie situation.
Chelsea will get the manager situation sorted out and also strengthen.
This season was a classic for the drama if not the quality, next season I think we'll have both.
Here's to putting ourselves through the emotional mincer again

Arsenal did buy titles as well, not to the same extent as others but still paid huge wages at the time and big transfer fees

Wages were not a ridiculous proportion of turnover. I would be also be interested in Arsenal's huge transfer fees bearing in mind the sales of Anelka and Overmars.
