From the Daily Fail.
Gareth Bale has been offered a £70,000-per-week contract in a bid to keep him at Tottenham.
The Spurs winger is a target for Spanish giants Barcelona and La Liga winners Real Madrid and Harry Redknapp is anxious to keep the Welshman.
The 22-year-old has a contract which runs until 2010, but if he accepts the new terms he will be one of the club's highest earners.
Contract until 2010
Probably cut and pasted from two years ago.....

More great journalism

Unbelievable how bad some sports journalists/editors are. There is no other type of journalism that is so badly regulated.

Agreed. Even the news guys don't make up as much as the sports guys.....

Yeah, it's definitely a cut and paste job. The Bale of 2009-2010 would have rightfully been offered £70,000 but now he'd be offered £100,000 plus to keep him here.
Personally i don't listen to anything that doesn't offer quotes. Proper quotes from players, agents and managers and chairman. I can't stand it when they sometimes put "a Tottenham insider". It means nothing. It could be someone who has been to see Spurs once. Ridiculous. In fact the recent Bale article about his happiness at Spurs is a prime example....
But a Spurs insider said: “Gareth wants to stay for next season.
“To say he is happy at the club right now is a bit of an understatement.”

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story - so they say!
