If the IPL did not existed , then K.P would not have made this decision.I fear that in long run cricket may become like football where club level football. takes precedence over international.

As most have said he can do what suits him for whatever reason but I think his timing could have been better.
In a week or so the ODI series begin and the selectors have probably already penciled in his name, surely he should have thought of this sooner. Maybe his ECB fine rankles and this is a sort of revenge.

Spot on.

Anyone thinking clearly can see that the no IPL would mean this decision wouldn't have been made. Chris Gayle would also have played for the Windies in the first two tests.

This is issue is one reason I wonder if the ECB should say you are either available for England or you are not otherwise there is a real danger players could start following suit, and simply focussing on Tests for the challenge and to raise their profile, and IPL for the big cash.

This ECB are almost there in that they rightly say sorry KP you can't say I'll turn up for the T20s but not ODIs etc. It sets a dangerous precedent.

I agree Hopeforthebest that the timing is really bad, and is another reason a lot of people aren't happy with him. It is selfish to do it so close to the Windies games, the matches v Australia and the WC in just a few months. However I imagine the timing is perfect for him because I believe he's trying to bluff/threaten the ECB into giving him special treatment and letting him play T20s and not ODIs.

I also agree that he is probably throwing his toys a little over the Twitter fine.

"I therefore made that further point that if you agree that he came here because he didn't like the positive discrimination policy in South Africa and how it could effected him being picked rather than because he wanted to represent his country, then you should accept he gave up his nationality, representing his country, and moved to another country for selfish reasons."

Which is complete and utter nonsense.

I steered clear of facetiousness for fear of falling flat on my face again (confusing you)

England were nowhere near the best test side in the world when he chose to play for them.

The upcoming generation will be much more geared towards 20-20 ,particularly in Asia.I think other boards like ACB and ECB should wake up and protect this game from BCCI influence.
