Interesting it says Knight is out of contract.

Considering we have been relegated from the Premiership, the list of outgoing players isn't so bad. Hopefully it stays that way.

One thing I am noticing though is the passionate, wear their hearts on their sleeves type of players we're losing. The kind of that looks proud to wear the team shirt and will give everything of themselves for the cause.

Sean Davis (most notably for Pompey), Jussi Jaaskelainen, Paul Robinson, Gretar Steinsson and Nigel Reo-Coker all struck me as that kind of player.

Apart from Super Kev and Maybe David Wheater we're looking particularly lightweight in that department.

Who is going to yell at the crowd to get us going? Who is going to rake their studs down the defender's calf who just took out Little Marvin? Who is going to lift the team when heads are down?

We lacked passion, grit and determination last season. Leaders were missing. As it stands, it looks as though we're heading into the Championship even worse off than we were.

Whoever Coyle is looking to bring in, along with technical ability, I hope he is looking for someone with a pair of (b)alls too.

looking at the list would take craig gordon to replace jussi.forget about knight and get ryan nelson and maybe onesize fitz hall for cb.owen hargreaves on pay as you play.enquire about danny guthrie and luis saha but both maybe too expensive.ricardo fuller would be good signing at championship level.

Juusi Albert Jaaskelainen , does not look like an albert

Agree with finlay, the remaining squad does look a little powder puff at the moment and we could do with a couple of savages in there unless we're aiming to win the fairplay league.

A "strong" defender and CM is needed to balance out the team.

knight as untill monday if he wants to stay on reduced terms. that should be no more than £10.000 a week imo.as i would like someone else with a bit of pace and good in the air.

Like fin says our squad lacks a bit of passion and grit. Theres only really SKD who has both of these. I wish we had kept Steinsson. For all his faults, you couldnt question his passion and commitment to the club and on his day he wasnt that bad and he could have done a job for us in the Championship. We also lack character. I was a bit too young to fully enjoy the white hot years but when you look at photos and video footage we had a good few characters who looked like they really enjoyed playing for us. The likes of Super John, Mcateer, Aiden Davison all looked like blokes you would love a night out with. Maybe this was just in a time when money didnt rule all and the football mattered most to the players and pleasing the fans. We did have a few in the BSA days like Campo, Diouf and Nolan, but now theres not really anyone. I think clubs need players like these, players like Gazza who was a class act on the pitch but also galvanised the squad off it with his personality and genuine kind nature.

I am happy with the outgoings and the retained list.

Let's face it all those who have gone with the possible exceptions of NRC and Jussi, were not really up to the job. Some may have been OK in the Championship but if we are looking to get back up at the first time we need some good players bringing in.

Hopefully that will happen. With the introduction of some of our youngsters in the squad, I think we will go back up. Of course it depends on who we sign.

The days of ' In yer face, get stuck in ' football at Bolton are gone (successful though it was).

We'll have to wait 'n see if the current ' Dance around yer handbags ' brand of football cuts it or not in the Championship!

Yes Firstof, do you mean players like Robinson? He gave all when he played, unfortunately he wasn't good enough. There were others like him.and some who didn't pull on a white shirt for months and in some cases for years.

We couldn't afford that kind of player or their wages despite the fact they had passion.

Circumstances demanded that we shed the players who weren't good enough. We will just have to wait and see how the "Dance around yer handbags" players, as you put it, perform. If they have enough skill, we will be fine. They can't be any worse than most of the players who have been released.
