For those of you scratching your heads over why Roger Johnson has joined Wolves instead of holding out for better offers, the answer is in the subject title.

Even though we are in the Championship and can offer a (short) European campaign, I did think this was a bizarre move for a 28-year-old with England ambitions. If really thought he could get a move to a Spurs, Everton or (dare I say) Villa and therefore reach his goal.
He's gonna have to play out of his skin and hope Wolves get relegated or a club pays top dollar for him to make Wolves a profit which at 30 onwards is unlikely.
But his personal finance bottom line is going to look a lot healthier on 31st July. All makes sense now.
£40,000 per week, 4 year deal

Yes 24cog Fulham or Everton type. Both bigger in terms of league placing than you and certainly us over recent history. Don't tell me you think you're bigger than them I'm not talking 120 years ago I mean recently.

Its hard to say..
Johnson did suffer when Dann was out.
when the two played together it was Johnson who stood out he was the one making the better tackles and winning more balls and the one who put his body more on the line (then again he did that more than other Prem defenders).
Once Dann was out, Johnson did ok, Jiranek steped in and some games we never missed Dann as Jiranek had good games.
Then others Jiranek looked shaky but still did ok.
It was only when Jiranek was injuried that our defence became a shambles, and at that point i feel the season caught up with Johnson he always looked tired and carrying knocks after 45 mins.
He is a decent no nonsence defender a modern day Tony Adams is what he reminds me of
I saw Wolves a fair share last season and before and Wolves defence was at times a shambles, if it was not for Mick parking the bus at times i think you would have been slaughtered.
But then Micks Park the buss still meant Wolves would attack on the break, Wolves pushed more boddies in the final 3rd and Mick also made positive changes more often and went for it in the last 20 mins more than McLeish did.

I think its unfair that we tarnish Wolves as .... oh i cant beleave he would go to Wolves.
So far who has bid for Johnson and i dont mean take any interest i mean bid.... only Wolves
Juventus, Liverpool and Sunderland was linked with interest in N'Zogbia but only Blues made a bid for him and on more than one occation. Sadly for us N'Zogbia got greedy and also thought bigger clubs would come for him once a deal with us fell through.
People could say that a Bentley and Hleb where to big to be joining Blues
Wolves needed quality in the midfield and they got O'Hara, they was reported to be after Gardner but Sunderland got there first.
They know defence needs sorting hence they bid £6M for Johnson we wanted £10M but told Wolves to increase offer to £9M
They missed out on Mills because they did not think was worth more then £4M, so having found out about our problems they made another £7M offer that we have accepted.

Exactly 24cog. I meant Johnson would be good enough for a team between Fulham and Everton. I honestly feel he is good enough for a better team. Better than you better then us. I think we should agree you have a decent player. Let's see if he can help you ship fewer goals.

you were unlucky to drop down, perhaps, well obviously the owners didnt foresee this or even consider it but the injurys you had post cup final killed you.
i'm fairly confident you'll make a fist of it under CH, cant see top 2 though TBH. you have a good record over the years of bouncing back too, maybe play-offs. the championship gets tougher and tougher though, dont envy you TBH. hope you have a good season though

Well i think bad Management is what cost us, McLeish was super dooper negative, honestly and we played poor football in the League but more open in the Cup.
But regardless Relegation has led us to find out Yeung does not have much money, and after that we found out what little he has is made by doing dodgy business.
Yeung simply is not fit enough to run a football club and he has bitten off more than he could chew

If and a Big If.....
Wolves signed Dann and got a decent LB and another Striker then Wolves would do very well.
Shows you can build a team on the cheap with some players.
Look how little Dann, Johnson and Gardner cost Blues, if Wolves had signed them for the price we did, because they stayed up if they also signed Odemwingie last season instead of WBA.
In addition to the £5M for O'Hara thats some set of players for all £5M or under.
Johnson is costing £2M more than we paid, but he has shown over the last two seasons that the £5M Gamble we took on him, has paid off and he has proved he can hack the Prem.
Thus £7M is a good price for Wolves, £40K a week seems a lot to pay though, but i guess if its a case of attracting him to Wolves over another more stable club (by that i mean one that has been in the Prem for like 5+ years) then i guess thats what has to be done.
We do not know if its £40K though

""I've not signed yet, we're still going through the medical," he told Sky Sports News.
"The physio's there now, I've just got a bit more to do. That's as far as it's got at the minute.
"We're halfway through and we'll see what happens."

To me i see no signs of a player who does not want to go to Wolves, he says he just wants to play in the Prem.
I guess if only Wolves are after him, Chelsea not any offers.
If its a case of stay here under the cloud we are in, or play in the Prem with Wolves its a no brainer for the guy especially if he will earn about 4X what he would if he stayed.
If Johnson has a good season then next year maybe he will get a bigger move.
