Yet who would now say Lennon shouldn't have been included in the squad? He could hardly have done any worse than the players who were selected. Everyone rattles on about the Ox, but there's a lot of ground to cover between teenage prospect and genuine international, and as for Downing, well, if you think he's superior to Lennon you needs specs and sensible pills.

Im sorry but Lennon not being in that squad was a joke..... The whole team was just set up to defend and be scared of who ever we were playing ..
