Daniel Pacheco

Is this guy still a Liverpool player? I thought he left last season but apparently hes coming back... Didnt Athletico sign him then loan him out?

Carragher started off as a midfielder. The point of youth development is that the position they start off playing is not always the ones they are most suited to. If Pacheco can end up playing striker or wide forward, he will be more useful to whatever club he ends up at. If Suso can play deep or further up the field, again that's good for him and his club. Gerrard has played right back, defensive mid, right wing, centre mid, attacking mid, and "number 9". He's been best at attacking mid, but being adaptable is good for the club, and improves the player.

In hindsight Wilson didn't do well at fullback. But it was a case of no playing time at all or see what he could do.

Suso is deleloping just fine and all clubs and managers try and develop players that way. Wenger and Fergie do it constantly.

Pacheco's lack of success is down to Pacheco fullstop. He's either not good enough, doesn't possess the right attitude, or both.

Last chance saloon for that lad.

Barca's acadamy make their youngsters play in a number of roles so it helps educate them in terms of seeing the play from a different perspective and angle.

Wilson was horrendous at left back but then again, it's not his natural position so fair enough.

But on each occasion I saw him as a CB, he wasn't that great.

Like LFC-009 said, playing young players in different positions gives them a better perspective of things like positional sense, defensive duties etc. for example, putting a winger at full back, shows the player the importance of why you need to track back and help the full back out. Shame no one did it with Milner in his younger years!

Yeah, just look at Skrtel versus spurs completely awfull, then had probably his best season, some CB can play out wide some can't.

Oh and on Dani, hopefully BR can kick start his career, he seems to get the best out of wayward youngsters, this kid has bags of talent potentially, but potential can be squanderd pretty easily.

He is lazy and does not really have a position.

He did okay on loan at Norwich but did not pull up any trees eithers. Done nothing at Rayo.

With regards to the position aspect it's important that youth players learn other positions, and the roles that they undertake within in them, for their development.

We've had better players than him not make it.

Rafa played Johnson at LB and he turned out ok, if you don't try you will never know if they can cover that position at some point of needed.

do think its unfair to criticise players like Wilson and Pacheco though if they are played out of position and don't adapt.

play them where they are comfortable or want to play and if no good then get rid, but not all players can adapt to dif positions.

I think D Pach is a player BR would like. So i hope he is given a chance. He still has quality he wont of lost that, just his form/confidence/belief etc. He is still the player that was stand out in our Reserves and the player who won golden boots for the spanish unders etc.
