McCartney Back!

I see former NI international George McCartney has just signed a permanent contract with West Ham and will be returning with them to the Premiership next season. George was voted West Ham player of the season last year and was lauded as one of the reasons behind their winning promotion.

Our left back problem is almost legendary, though we seem to have recently found a solution in the form of McGirvan or Ferguson. The thing is, given that McCartney is in the form of his life, should he be invited back into the NI squad? Could he be useful to us? Would he be interested in returning to the fold now that NW has gone?

It seems to me that a left defender who can defend as well as get forward and who is playing well in position in the EPL, should not be ignored by ourselves!

TOMKINS:
Wiki under "George McCartney/ Irish footballer" says, "at the end of season awards for the 2011-12 season, McCartney was awarded the Players' Player of the Year award. Most likely there are two awards: [1]Player of the Year; [2]Players' Player of the Year. Noble got one and McCartney the other. Whatever, he got an award.

Is this a trick question?

how could any defender be regarded as better than do canio. Unless it was the great sir bobby of course.

But i mean it, other clubs mccartney has played for dont rate him at all. But he has always been good for us

TOMKINS:
No trick question. Its just that I noticed we have both named Paulo di Canio on our list of favourite players, Yes, England are in dire need of a new Sir Bobby as well as new Hurst, Peters, Charlton, Stiles, etc. All the best to you lot this season. Hope you stay up!
