There are a lot of people on here (well comments I've read to be honest) that seem to think that Mr Shelvey is going to turn out to be a top top player.
Comments such as - "I've watched a bit of Shelvey and he looks a very promising player; very composed and good on the ball."
and
"Will be ready to step into Gerrard's shoes within the next 18 months"
Now personally I don't think he has what it takes to be a regular Premier League player.
He'll make a very good Championship player but that is all.
In fact, - -
He's got a better chance of making it in the remake of The Magnificent Seven.
He's a dead ringer for Yul Brynner ! !

Shelvey has potential to be a top player, but he didn't show enough last season to show he was going to make it.
Let's face it though it's not easy for young players to come in to a poorly performing outfit and there were so many underachievers in the same boat.
I think Brendans main task is to get the best out of the players we have at the club now.
If he does that and adds a quality finisher to the ranks then I think we will be well on our way.

IMO Shelvey looks like very very good player already..with scope to get better
he does what most footballers cant do..play football
forget fitness, forget effort, forget local lads, players nowadays are mostly superfit - yet a lot of them have very little footballing ability..........makes my blood boil

Who's to say that Jonjo, under Brendan, will play in the same style/position/ method than he did when Kenny was boss? Despite his claims that he will change the style, we have yet to see what Brendan will do with the squad, and who will be out or in. Jonjo? Potential, definitely. Last season, one or two good games. Spot on Jimmy.
He lacks the drive. pace and power to be like Gerrard. He has potential, but this "new Gerrard" stuff is a load of cockwhallop.
