I am just mentioning it cause it's been a big talking point in the past, especially on 606.

ROTLA,

I think is drop shots have improved since 2007, especially on the forehand side and I also think he's a little more patient in long rallies with Murray, Rafa and Novak. He has to be as the courts are getting slower. However, I still think he was better between 03 and 07, even if he had a poor H2H, like against Nalby, Hewitt and even Henman, he usually put it right and with avengance.

Tenez, each to their own, but I saw the Wimbledon Final of 06 and 07 and sensed a big difference in the quality of Federer's play. I felt he could win the 06 final whenever he felt like it, but I felt in 2007 final, he really needed to work for it. I saw very little difference in Nadal from Wimby 06 to Wimby 07.

", but I saw the Wimbledon Final of 06 and 07 and sensed a big difference in the quality of Federer's play"

"BIG difference in the quality", is a big word...even when playing the same opponent on the same court you can't always execute the same game plan every time, it doesn't mean that the quality of play is nececessarily dropping. Those are big matches that don't come every day. I'm sure if Murray played Fed in next year's final it would be a completely different match.
Same with Djokovic.
Levels don't drop just like that.

Wimbledon press conference after final.

Do you feel like you are a better tennis player now than you were than five years ago?
ROGER FEDERER: I hope so. God, I've practiced so much that I you don't want to be worse five years later, you know. (Laughter.)
I feel I have, you know, a great game today. But then again, maybe there were times I had such incredible confidence that you do pull triggers and you pull off shots that maybe today I don't because I maybe do play a bit more the percentages.
I know how hard it is, you know, to pull off those great shots and I know how easy it is to miss, so I'm more aware of these things.

Yes I noted that bit in Fed's interview...and once again he confirms what I have been saying all along in that famous v2 thread.

There is also a very interesting bit from Murray about federer:
ANDY MURRAY: Yeah, I mean, when we came out after the break he was more aggressive on my serve. I maybe didn't serve as well under the roof as I did the first couple of sets.
And, yeah, the second set had some chances and didn't quite get them. You know, often what happens is matches change over a couple of points here and there. You know, maybe if I got the break in the second set it could have been different, or not got broken at 30 Love up at 6 5.
But, yeah, after the break he was a bit more aggressive. And I think because he has excellent timing, so when, you know, there's no wind or anything under the roof, he times the ball very, very well. He was able to go for his shots a bit more. Felt a bit more secure probably.

Clearly that timing Murray is talking about is the key to Federer's 17 slams and going. This is what makes him so talented. He has been accused of shanking a lot but no one takes the ball so early with one hand and manages to stay at the top and win slams.

The last one to do it was Gaudio...but he got lots of help from Coria.
