The press are saying united are interested in signing Cole. Quality player.. Probably England team's only truly world class player. Not sure how that would go down with Rio though. I would love him at United - the left back position would be sorted!
What do you guys think?
Ashley Cole to United?

Cole was poor for most of last season until the final 3 months and 10/11 while solid defensively (bar Sunderland game) he wasn't as good going forward. Viva is right.

Of course Cole has declined. He is only human after all but stil I think he is the best left back in England even after taking into account his decline. I also think his England caps have been deserved and he's one of the players not living off past performances.

Doesn't need to be good going forward. That's not his main job. His main job is defending which he does more than adequately

Nick fair enough mate we all got our opinions but it would be nice if you could debate rather then just try and insult me.
It was a sort of backhand compliment that Cole even at a lesser level is still better then the fullbacks in England. I agree he still is the best in England but he is not what he used to be, older so maybe he can't continue to put in top performances week in week out but in the one off games he is fantastic.
Cole is one of the few England players that I would class as world class and at every tournament he played he could come back home knowing that he played well.

Yeh. Let's debate it out. United posters are decent.

I know but he was definately on a lower level then the 09/10 season where he was fantastic

Yeh he has declined but I think Evra has decline quicker than Cole has to be honest. They were on a par few years back

It depends how Chelsea set up next season, if your wingers use the width he may have less attacking to do but if they come inside he has to give the width.
You've bought some interesting players but the player I'm most looking forward to see is Ramires. I hope he is allowed to get forward and play his natural game instead of being shackled in a DM role. Can be Chelseas Yaya Toure if used properly.

Evra is a funny character you love him when he's on your side but hate him if he plays for the opposition. I try to defend him but he is a very arrogant player with a big ego you can see how he can disrupt things in the French side.
Probably would have done the same at United if we didn't have such a strong manager. The problem with him is he is in a comfortable position, he knows he is a first teamer an untouchable he has lossed a little of that hunger. Having to play as a wing back at times to cover our lack of width ha also affected him.

Will never happen. Move on from this false rumour.
