Another Mikel article!

I know there have been so many countless Mikel articles lately, I just can't help but make another one.
Yes, it is only a pre-season friendly, yes; it is only the community shield...this has been the general tone of most of the posters on here, but truth be told, for how many seasons have we criticised Mikel for his sluggishness, and lacklustre sideways passes?

He may eventually come good once the season has kicked off, but is it high time Mikel was dropped, in favour of someone else, who can make the midfield tick, and initiate attacks quickly?

If Chelsea really want to transit from a rigid, but effective outfit to a more fluid and attacking one, then some players just have to be sacrificed for this cause...simples!

Sound off....

Yes, getting fit is one of the reasons for pre season, it also shows you the character and capabilities of what each player can offer.

For instance, Marin and Hazard were very impressive, despite not playing for a while.

Surprisingly, Essien was also good!
So, it's not just about getting fit, it also shows a glimpse of what you can expect from players, when FIT!

Stop being myopic, and quit jumping on the 'pre season games is to get fit' bandwagon!

It's not a bandwagon, it's widely acknowledged that PRE season is for players to get fit for the start of the ACTUAL season.

A question; were you one of the guys who were crying when we lost to Brighton?

No cry, no tears, but disappointed with the result nonetheless!
Pre season or not, Brighton shouldn't beat us...never!

It depends what we are looking for though, throughout a season the teams fitness will hit it's peak, then drop then peak again and so on.

In recent seasons we have looked to peak fitness at the start of the season, so we would actually win most pre season games and then there would be a drop around christmas time and then we would reach peak fitness for the run in.

This season we seem to have looked to have changed the cycle.
So instead of peaking fitness August-October/November then back to peak fitness February time, we are now looking at peaking around the end of September/early October time till the end of January.

So since we had quite a few at the Olympics and players there we would like to sign, the would come in and be at peak fitness and get us though the first few months, then get a rest when the others reach peak fitness.

I think Romeu is more suited to the pivot than mikel. he deserves more starts
