Pre-season optimism

OK, so that didn't quite go as planned, but if you want a reminder as to how positive pre-season was, albeit against largely 'lesser' sides, then check out this review on my blog from someone who saw all three 'local' matches:

The defensive problems remain Fontaine and Nyatanga just don't hack it as a defensive pairing plus Woolford and Pitman have both failed to deliver since they arrived.
If I had had any say in the matter(which obviously I don't) then Woolford, Pitman and Fontaine would have been on the transfer list and Amougou and McManus would have been signed but it's the lack of a finisher up front that was obvious after Maynard left last year that also needs addressing

Don't disagree other than Fontaine (I thihk we've disagreed on that one before!), as I thought he came into his own last season for large parts.
Think he needs a different partner though, Bikey would've been great but too expensive for the new, slim-line City
