Did Fergie Just want a Marquee signing??

I still don't really understand Fergie's reason for buying RVP..
Although we will accept the 24mill (& fingers crossed it is re-invested)..

I just kept wondering; He just bought that new prolific Mexican striker for £4mill.
He already has Hernandez who is on a long term deal
Rumours are rife that Welbeck is going to be getting a new 75k a week contract.
Berbatov is still at the club (Although he might leave).

Giving RVP a new 4yr contract doesn't really sound like something Sir Alex would do.
Is he worried about ManCity??

or is he just trying to deflect attention from the current Glazer farce
or maybe he just doesn't like it that Moura rejected coming to United and is trying to save face

Who knows?
I'm eager to see how he keeps all these strikers happy

15 million is the absolute highest I would of gone for him given his age and the fact a bit of bad luck could see him be our next Michael Owen.

I really would of spent the money on sahin and Barnes. He's a great player but this outlay on a player so old in a position were well stocked in.

I really can't work out why he wanted to sign the league's top scorer and best player either

It is a vanity purchase. I have said it several times.

But ofc, he is a world class player and you can never have too much of those.

He's 29 has an injury record akin to Owens and cost 24 mil and strikers are already the strongest part of our squad.

Macheda is probably history.

Stretty you say that but Rooney has carried the attack.

This is a waste of money, but I doubt the herd cares. Let's pray he does not get injured.

More of an opportunistic one I'd say.

How often does the league's POTY and top scorer become available, let alone at a discount as he is near the end of his contract? I can't remember this ever happening before so I disagree with those that say it is an unusual signing for Fergie. Just an unusual situation.

Plus we had Berba and Owen (on paper at least) last season so we will have the same or fewer strikers again next season.

Imagine if we had injuries to our strikers instead of our defence all the time!
