i don't understand how people think that Podolski is going to replace RVP's goals.
Podolski had never scored more than 25+ goals a season except for the one time 7 years ago and before and since he's never scored more than 18 in any full seasons. before you say that rvp was the same, in reality it never was as he had never played a full season until recently.
Don't get me wrong i love the purchase of podolski and look forward to watching him play, but just want people to have realistic expectations as he isnt the type of player to bang in 30 goals or even 25 a season.
our second highest scorer was wallcott last season and he scored 13 in 33 games, i just don't know where all these goals will come from? without rvps goals we would have done pretty badly last season, and to say giroud will help, undoubtly he will but we can only play one striker at a time. i see him more of a replacement for chamakh but a far better and a more hopeful\trustworthy option from the bench.
my conclusion is that we need at least one more prolific attacking player who can score from the wings, in order to improve from last season, rather than struggling to match what rvp had left.
Podolski

pp1212, well if giroud plays in rvp's position and podolski takes the left wing then it will mean chamack will be the back up striker hhmm, maybe if wenger takes giroud off during a game he will move pod to centre.

Articles like this annoy me, if you don't think podolski, giroud and cazorla will replace RVP then you have no clue, our squad is stronger than ever before.

I might write an article called 'Where are Songs assists going to come from?' that will be very individual and thought provoking. Or maybe i will go with 'Wilshere may not return the same player'

Forgetting the Chamakh issue, what's the issue then? we seem to have a few options with those 2 players, I'm not sure why you would think they wouldn't play together!

RVP was the exact same, as you said yourself. What's your point?
Podolski scored 18 goals for FC Cologne, a relegation battling team.
How many goals do you think he'll score for a top team? Use your brain.

He is a big game player, but not a great player over length of a season. He will be solid, but not spectacular.

How do you know that?
You don't know anything at all.
You guys can choose to look back at his performances 7 years ago, while I'll look back at his more recent ones (18 goals in the Bundesliga for a relegation battling side).
Just cause you signed RVP doesn't mean you can go around spouting ignorant nonsense.

Exactly. I expect him to chip in with a good 15 goals this year, Giroud a similar amount, and a few coming from Cazorla.
