Finland Friendly

Positives
We scored 3 goals
Most of the squad didnt cry off
We looked like we were going to score
Patto and Fergy got their first goals
Chris Braid is back
Healy wasnt invited
We have depth in defence and in goalkeeping positions
Johnny Evans is due back soon

Negatives
We conceded 3 goals at home to a team as poor as us
Aaron Hughes cried off (but played 90 minutes for Fulham yesterday)
Finland bossed most of the game
Davis was awful ...again
Jeff Hughes wasnt invited even with all the cry offs
No work on Windsor has started..ridiculous
A few idiots still shouting 'no surrender' during the national anthem ..come on guys we are trying to make the likes of Fergy,Braid & McLaughlin not feel in any way intimidated.

Sorry forgot abut the main negative -Sky havent secured the services of Jackie 'the talisman' Fullerton

I always get worried when Sir Fullerton is commentating as we're sure to lose... Still was nice to finally see some goals scored by our lot. Their second goal was one of those things that can easily happen in pre season friendlies and I honestly think we would have won as we were playing much better than them at that stage. Was disappointed not to see Jeff Hughes anywhere near the squad. As for Davis, I think once he gets playing in a decent league (prem) we will see the best of him. However plenty of positives to take from the Finland match and was great to see young Shane, big Kyle and Paterson scoring.

while i expected us to win i ended up going home happy enough. We should we can scored goals and come back from behind. As usual tho we ruined the chance of a win ourselves. Why is the senior players that keep making the mistakes?

Though McGivern and Ferguson linked up well as did Shiels and Lafferty - fitness got Lafferty and Ferguson in the 2nd half.

So looking forward Russia will beat us even with Evans and Hughes coming back in. Dont know who will start in nets either. MON has a tough job rebuilding us into a competitive outfit again. Needs time but at least is getting the ball down and playing it rather than Nigels lump it up game.

With Hughes and Evans fit I doubt we would have conceded three, first half was the best football we've played since Lawrie (Before the goals went in obviously)
No Surrender can be a positive as well though as if all the players adopt what I like to call a No Surrender approach when we go behind it enables the team to maintain the right mentality for a comeback. If I was a manager of a team that were down at half time No Surrender would be roared in all their faces. A couple of shouts wont put them off.

"No Surrender" to the opposition.

But I appreciate its inclusion in the national anthem is inappropriate - since the words are not actually part of the anthem.
