What I would like to know is, who was this mysterious 'third party' that Buttner told his club wanted a fee in order for the deal with Southampton to go through? All sounds very very dodgy.

Probably just his agent or previous club who had a clause when selling him.

If it was his old club, then Vitesse would surely have known about it before they started negotiating with Southampton? But they didn't. Have a read of this article, it is a bit odd.

Yeh probs just the agent. The way it is worded though makes it sound weird. Maybe it is just lost in translation? If it was the agent that was due the money, then why not just say that?
