"Strauss’s resignation after three years in the job will be the latest extraordinary twist in the Kevin Pietersen saga which has rocked England's set-up over the past two weeks."
Thank you for your contribution Straussy, in particular for me the great reguard century in Brisbane which I was fortunate enough to witness.
For me though, not only is his form not currently of international standard, but ultimately the buck for the dressing split has to stop with him, and him stepping down today is the right thing at this time.
Strauss to resign as England Captain today

maybe it would be one of those though where it takes the weight off his shoulders and brings his form back ? in spite of the speculation of the KP link, maybe that's what he/england are hoping for ?

His batting has probably suffered because of all the added headaches of captaincy and KP. I reckon he should find some reasonable form with the bat if he drops captaincy.

Hes lost it with the bat. Did well against the aussies a couple of years back, but i dont see him retaining his place in the side. He should quit test cricket and resign, full stop. Least that way he'll go out on a high - he's done wonders for english cricket.

.................
His form with the bat was non-existent before the KP saga and he hasn't been contributing near enough for a few years now, even during England's rise to the top.
If anything the captaincy prolonged his career. I said on here his batting has evidently been in decline for a while to the point of no return at his age. Right decision to call it a day.
All the best.

To actually captain England to the world ranked number one spot is quite probaly his greatest ever acheivement.
