Never easy to just sell a player....they need.to want.to leave

Its better than nothing! Am happy so long as they pay all his wages for whatever period they have him. He might have a blinder in that period and enjoy himself so you never know.
A permanent deal would be pure bliss however.

Yes I agree the process of getting all the player out is a tough one I can understand more now why it has been elaborated to a great degree this project is going to take time...

Looking back it really appears financially Kenny's short return to the helm has caused the club some major problems.. Would also blame Comolli for this as well obviously...

At least the loan signing of Sahin means while struggling to balance it all we still have real quality in our first team. I do not think we could ask any more of Brendan than the job he is doing right now

Urgh. Macca said we need to sell players to be able to buy Dempsey and another.

Sending Spearing out on 6 month loan doesnt help.

Hope Adam goes later tonight

The problem with jay is that he thinks a loan will provide him with a chance to show the club they should keep him. At 23, if he hasn't shown it by now, I'm afraid its always going to be a Struggle. Admirable that he has the fight but annoying that we can't shift players who are not good enough

That is horse-sh^t.
Look at the way John Henry himself says he structured the Carroll deal. He told Chelsea they couldn’t have Torres unless we got Carroll, and the price was whatever Carroll cost + 15m. So if Carroll had cost 20m., Torres woulds have sold for 35m.

This would have had nothing to do with Kenny...John Henry himself says he brokered the deal that way. Neither Carroll, nor Henderson, nor Charlie Adam, nor Spearing, are bad players just because they don’t fit in with the way Buck wants to play. Spearing was recommended by the Academy, and given game-time by Rafa, Hodgson, and Kenny...and now there are reportedly five managers wanting his signature. You may well have better player-evaluation skills than any of those managers, but I somehow doubt it.

What does cost money, as has been proven by countless economic surveys, is sacking managers.
I personally agree with Steve Clarke that he and Kenny could have progressed with that squad, and the players they bought would have continued to feature.

FSG decided otherwise, and I’m fine with that, too.. I’m happy with the start Buck has made...but let’s not start scapegoating former employees, and loading the cost onto them.

FSG have hard decisions to make, and they should stand or fall by them. Sacking managers is a very expensive business, and the cost of it is down to their decisions. It ALWAYS ends up with the sale of players for less than they cost. I’ve no doubt that Houllier would have used Cisse, Rafa would have used Aquilani, Kenny would have used Carroll, Henderson, Adam, and probably Spearing, because they all bought them with a particular tole, and style of play, in mind.

It’s fine for a new manager to have his own ideas, but the cost of them is not necessarily down to the previous manager. That’s just scapegoating, esp. if the previous manager was only there for a short time.

In 18 months, the owners have sacked 2 managers and a Director of Football. I hope, as much as anybody else does, that those decisions turn out to have been correct for the long-term, and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be, but one thing I’m certain of is that the accountabiliity for those decisions lies with the people who made them.
