Anyone who thought it was were deluding themselves a bit.

Our squad is in a complete state of transition after the last few years of mismanagement. We have some good footballers and I now believe we have a good manager, but that isn't enough today to get top4.

The competition is extremely fierce.

Right now, we will do well to finish top 6, let alone top 4. The squad is just not strong enough.

Whether that is addressed in January only time will tell.

For now the best we can hope for is Brendan getting the best out of what he has and getting a feel good factor happening on the pitch, so we can challenge the top 6 and progress in the EL.

We need to win some football matches, otherwise the next few months could be hellish.

don't blame Brendan Rodgers for this....he assured us all that he was assured by others at the club that strikers (plural) would be signed... obviously someone (Ayre) is a bad negotiator.

We never were favourites for fourth and regardless of what has happened today making up nearly 18 points in a season is an incredibly difficult challenge. A very unfair one at that, forget it.

With the competition for those top 8 places finishing in the top 6 this season would be a solid achievement. Always was the case.

Regarding the Dempsey situation, we've had a mare in the past 48 hours, poorly planned is an understatement. Sadly for some it will mask whats been a great few months transfer wise but it can't be argued that we messed up and that's that.

Hopefully we get to January unscathed on the injury front and within sight of the top 6 IMO. It is what it is and we have to get on with it. It was always going to be difficult but it's just got that bit harder. Big few months ahead. Chins up.
