Strikers!!!

I know it's been an awful deadline day, but hmm.. don't be too disappointed.
In 08/09 season Torres was the only striker we had and we still did ok. We just have to pray Suarez and Borini don't get injured and hope our midfielders have a cracking season.

Never seen this Yesil kid and I keep hearing he's good enough for first team. Hopefully he'll be a good 3rd option. Lets not forget Morgan who I still think is too young, but well another option..

I am a massive Suarez fan but not a fan of him playing the main striker role. It destroys our team play and quickly moves attack to defence, a lot of the time.

TOOR.

the bench did look short with Suarez out...and now even shorter is my point.

It didn't to me and our results over that period suggested the same.

Suarez should be the link between midfield and attack. Borini should be our main striker. I think we need a 4231 formation.

Won five, drew two, lost two away to Bolton and City. As good a record we had all season.

But how about comparing the period at the end of the 10-11 season when we had brilliant form under Kenny.

Suarez was the main striker then.

That's when Meireles and Maxi popped up with goals galore, if I remember correctly.

But we looked far more balanced then than anytime that Carroll has been in the side.

It was different players in a different system. Which is why I still hold some optimism for the season ahead. I hope the players gel and get used to the system Brendan employs.

We might end up playing a sort of 4-6-0 at times this season.

I just hope we aren't being modelled on Barcelona with Messi/Suarez the false nine, the fluid passing and the winger turned left-back. We aren't ready for it and don't have the attack for it. I feel this system won't work with Suarez as the main striker but we may be able to make do, if Sterling plays, as he is very quick and can join Suarez, even when Suarez receives the ball, whilst being furthest forward and tries to dribble past the defenders.

Or we take some of Suarez' game away and tell him to stop dribbling it and start holding it for others to join him.

Certainly changes need to be made.
