Shelvey over Gerrard?

Seeing Gerrard struggle once again in the 3-man midfield, I don't think Shelvey could do any worse, and it's not like his legs aren't getting any younger. In B.R's system, it's vital that the midfield trio is rigorously disciplined (look at Allen) and play in their "zones". Obviously our best midfield 3 would be Lucas-Allen-Sahin, but with Lucas injured for who knows how long (we need a DM replacement as Spearing is gone too), so we can kiss the dream for 4th place finish goodbye!
So, why not try Stevie on the attacking trio, I feel he would do less harm there. Perhaps as a "false 9" in the middle, with Suarez and Borini on the sides, sort of like Cesc in Barcelona, or as a super sub, as we don't have a striker on the bench anyway, could fill that void. I don't think we can put so much pressure on Sterling, to make him start every game, and Gerrard could have a few goals still in him, I don't in the life of me see them coming from Borini, Suarez or Sterling, hope I'm proven wrong.

By the way, Yesil looks like an amazing player, see if he could get some Europa league games under his belt, very excited prospect indeed.
Well, the break will do at least my nerves a world of good, hopefully see some improvement in the team in the coming weeks!

Could just indicate that it was a crap shot.

Downing who didn't track Cazorla's run..

Shelvey was with him when he first received the ball.
He played a 1-2, and when he got it back, Shelvey was no longer with him.

I would like to see how Gerrard would do playing on the right or left of the front three.

He is still one of our most creative players and certainly our best in terms of producing decent crosses/passes into the box. The problem still exists that there needs to be more players in the box to receive them, but so far in the league this season he has struggled to fit into the system.

I can't see Rodgers changing the way he plays, so therefore he may need to be creative in how he deploys the players. I doubt Stevie would be overly enamoured with a switch of positions, but it's perhaps worth a try given our strength of number sin the central midfield area, but our glaring weakness in terms of depth in the front three

I am not sure Gerrard is worthy of his place given his form both this season and last. He has been consistently poor in my opinion....well, poor relative to his standing as our skipper and a supposed world class performer.

Bur one thing that really stuck out yesterday was when he took a cheap hit on Vermaelen near the corner flag. There was no need. He does little things like this quite often....and some fools think that he is showing total committment to the cause. Well I am sorry folks. I see it as him trying to mask his laziness for the other 89 minutes. The crowd go wild...."ooooh look at Captain Fantastic putting his brave body on the line". It is much more difficult to stay focused for the full 90+ mins, doing the thankless doggies and tracking back like Lucas and Allen do rather than taking the cheap bully boy hits. I for one am not fooled.

And you're wiser than the crowd, are you? "Tracking back likeLucas and Allen do". Lucas has always done that, and let me guess, you backed Lucas all the way, didn't you, right from the early days?

It's pathetic to question his commitment. People like Ferguson and Mourinho both coveted him, and he could have gone anywhere he wanted, and won a hatful of medals. But we persuaded him our ambitions matched his, and now we're saying "Oh, did we say top 4? We can't afford that".

Benitez told him he was doing too much, and played him further up the pitch. Dalglish had him working all over the pitch again, and now Buck has him playing further up the pitch again. But you still want him tracking back with Allen and Lucas, who are playing deeper.

Hello!!!!! All that you have just wrote was when he was a player. When he actually performed. Open your eyes.....he has been poor for ages now. Good games from him are rare. "He's coming back from injury" I hear people say. He is now a passenger...accept it. There is a direct correlation to our league position over the last few years to Gerrards input. He may be able to turn it round but I doubt it. His wandering about and only coming to life when a chance of a glory through ball presents itself is not enough to lift us up the league.

And yes....I said from day one that Lucas was the real deal.

I have to agree with Bungee, time for some LFC fans smell the coffee
Time left Hyypiä, then Carragher, and soon it's Gerrrard. I honestly he's lost the appetite, and didn't he say in some interview that he doesn't believe he can ever win the premier league... why is he playing then?
Belief is vital in any sport.

btw, yes I supported Lucas from the start like any Red players, but come on, he was horrendous at the beginning most of his first 2 seasons...
