Now I am confused.
Stoke who are (in)famous for their lump it in big and early style - hence Crouch, Kenwin-Jones et el - have now signed Michael (5' 6") Owen ?
Has Pullis undergone some sort of religious conversion ? Is hell freezing over ? Has Rooney composed a symphony ?
Michael Owen

Somebody who can come off the bench and grab a goal, would be surprised if he started games

Charlie Adam is another one who's not entirely their style of player. I think he likes one or two footballers alongside all their orcs, like Glenn Whelan.

Stoke have spent 75m net in 5 years and highest they've reached is 11th

Exactly. It really gets on my nerves when their fans use money as an excuse for the way they play - they have spent plenty whilst the likes of Swansea and Wigan have shown you can play good football on a small budget and achieve highly.
I have no issue on the whole with Stoke's style of play (except players like Whitehead and Wilkinson who go out of their way to injure people) but when they say the reason they play in that way is because they have no money, I lose hope. If they were to just say that that's they style their manager likes, then fine.

Stoke must have one of the highest net spends/wage bills in the league. It's criminal how the media pretend that they are over-achieving and constantly praise Pulis for 'doing a great job'.

Pulis has done a great job - they didn't expect promotion, are in their 5th Premier League season and have made an FA Cup final and European football.
All for £15m a year - bargain!
