Halifax's average is much lower at 1,167

No matter how they play guys,
1,100 seems to be it for the SHAYMEN !
been like that for donkeys now.
They are way above the league average though.
some of the turn outs are a couple of hundred at a few places.
bit 'pedantic' but Wigan has a smaller population than Halifax & yet can attract 18,000 on a good day, Hypothetically I don't think the SHAYMEN could come close to that even IF they made it to the premier !

I think half the problem with comparing population size of a town is that Wigan is full of people who like to socialize and go to watch sports, be it football or rugby league...
Where as Halifax has a large central population of people who pay nothing to the local econemy; the people who live close to the centre don't watch football or rugby, or even spend money in pubs or shops....
The people in the surrounding villages do, but they are now out numbered by the people from the 'centre' of Halifax...Crying shame really....Just saying....

Spot on MYTH.
When I was back in May, (how come we never did meet up ?) I noticed how 'alive' it was in Sowerby, & the outlying towns & villages.
I had a good time in Hebden Bridge too,
The 'Town' just seems to be populated with apathetic grumps ?
Walked on the canal bank from Luddenden to Hebden ....right past 'MYTH',
You anywhere near the canal Myth..(but don't give TOO much away, You know we have some right fat heads on here ...)

Hope you enjoyed ya walk from the Foot to Hebden....An nice part of England that is....
I live slightly away from the canal, up a little on the valley side (near a bowling green).
Been to London on the train today. Most of the journey was flat n' boring...
That was until I got near home....The green sided valleys appeared, with speradic oaks, the craggs, the rivers, together with blue sky and sun, there is no finer place on earth...
Shame we share it with people that will one day take it from us, and they will never appreciate it...
