Andy Roddick retired earlier after losing to Del Potro in the fourth round of the US Open.
Enjoyed supporting Andy ever since I was a young kid. Shame he never won Wimbledon - perhaps if it wasn't for Roger Federer things might have been different.

Never liked him or his style of play - very average!
He was lucky that he got the chance to squeeze in a slam win just as one era had finished - and another, truly great era was about to begin!

Agree with Logie B. Did nothing for me either. Hard to like any American sports personality to be honest. Win at all costs, drug cheats and big headed.
Nope, won't be missing Roddick.

Let's be clear, you;re not saying Roddick was a drugs cheat.
The same way people say Murray is unlucky to be around in the era of Fed and Nadal, well, so was Roddick.
Awe inspiring serve, never say die attitude and a real character off court.
Not my favourite player, but you have to respect his attitude to tennis, his achievements and the fact he puts something back into tennis via the Andy Roddick Foundation which he has been doing for over a decade, it's not just something he dreamt up once he had found his fame and fortune.
I wish him well in the future and hope we might see him as part of Wimbledon commentary team.

Always remember this last game in US Open 2003 where he blitzed Ferrero, enjoy from 5:05 onwards.
