What constitutes a "long ball" though? Is a pinpoint diagonal pass classed as a long ball? a clearance from an under pressure keeper? what about a cross from the right wing to the left? the ball has travelled a distance in the air but is it counted as a "long ball"?

I think long ball is just hoofing it to the target man to head it on.
Those diagnol pin point passes shouldn't count as long ball.
