Foreign managers in particular.
I may be in a small minority here. But I actually like AVB.
And I don't understand the hate he is getting.
The media are playing him as this slow witted, and clueless manager, when it's quite the opposite.
As usual the idiotic sheep (fans) are gulping it up.
When he first signed a contract for Chelsea, he had just won the Portuguese Primeira league, unbeaten. As well as European cup. All at the young age of 34.
That's special.
He came here. Things didn't work out too well for him at Chelsea. But then again it didn't work out for many other managers too.
Don't get me wrong, I laughed at some of the material people were coming out with.
But this is over the top. People are acting as if he's this idiot, when in fact he's an extremely intelligent man.
Very technical. He knows his stuff. A football man.
He should've held out for the La Liga, Bundesliga or Serie A imo. Regardless he deserves more respect.
Another victim imo was Rafael Benitiez.
This is a man who has won it all. La Liga twice with the Valencia, a Euro cup, FA Cup and a Champions League.
Opposition fans may not have agreed with his approach to football when it came to it. But off the pitch he was a very respectful man. Nice guy. He did so much for Liverpool.
And how do people repay him? Call him the "fat waiter?".
Either way, I am sure Liverpool fans would take him back now.
I think it's abusive and filthy the sort of things the media can come out with. Absolutely pathetic.
I am sure there are more victims. But for me those two are standout examples.
And they don't deserve it. Both are good managers.

I think British managers can get away with things that foreign ones can't, in 95/96 Newcastle not being able to defend basically cost them the title, it was a glaring problem that Keegan either chose to ignore, or didn't know how to fix but he get's praised for bringing entertaining football to Newcastle. If AVB is in the position to win the league with Spurs but didn't because he decided not to work on defending he would get slaughtered by the press, and rightly so, because that would be a ridiculous thing to do, not if you're British though apparently

Of course the British media age going to side British managers over foreign managers. What's so difficult to understand?? This happens everywhere in the world where locals are given more preferrence.
Now unless some foreigner is an absolute genius (Mourinho) or someone who is down to earth or understands the culture well (Mancini) foreigners will always be a target of the media. As simple as that.

On a serious note, I don't Wenger was criticized that heavily by the media as long as he was winning trophies.
But as soon as he decided to break up the invincibles and continue with his youth policy when the entire world was shouting out for some experience in the team and his constant buying of 18 year olds when he had the money lead everyone to believe that he was stubborn. He never rectified his mistakes especially in the defensive area.

=================================================
This cretin is actually inadvertently on-topic, though I doubt he could work out why in a month of Sundays,
Because in an article about xenophobia, he's demonstrated that his interaction with other cultures extends to going there with his bone-headed mates to get p!$$ed and insult waiters.
What connection does Rafa Benitez have with waiting tables? None whatsoever, except that he's Spanish,
and some morons stereotype Spanish people as waiters.
Would he call Martin Jol a fat Dutch waiter?
No, because he no doubt categorises Dutch people using some other brain-dead cliche that passes for thought. Rafa Benitez is a multi-millionaire: the only waiting he's ever going to do for this budgie-head is waiting for him to grow up.
We love getting sanctimonious with other cultures about xenophobia and racism, while demonstrating all the time that we are still deeply ignorant about it. We, and the newspapers, work from a crib-sheet of words that we shouldn't use, but there's no understanding of why, so if the word isn't on the crib-sheet, we use it.
The fall-out from the Suarez/Terry affairs is that a numbe r of people who appointed themselves as anti-racism spokesmen waded in and said racist things themselves (Paul McGrath/Rio Ferdinand). Rio Ferdinand got done for exactly the same offence as Suarez (Section E3 of the FA's regulations).
It's difficult to find out the facts of these cases from the newspapers. All you get is hysteria and opinion, so it's no wonder people end up ignorant. Without raking over the ashes of the rights and wrongs of the case, there are still people around who think Suarez 'admitted it' (he didn't. And if you think about it, which lawyer would advise him to plead 'Not Guilty' while admitting it?).
There are still people arguing over whether the word he used can possibly be used inoffensively (that matter was settled by the Commission; it can, so it's an irrelevant debate).
And there are still people arguing over the use of the word 'Negrito' (the word wasn't used, and is barely mentioned in the report).
That's the extent to which it was mis-reported.
So in our ignorance, we're now in the ludicrous position where the FA's Grand Stance against racism has convicted two black people (Frimpong and Ferdinand) and a south American of mixed-race (Suarez).
No white people .
It doesn't bode well for John Terry, because these numbers are embarrassing. We need to get our own house in order before we start lecturing others, and it starts with the Press, because they're too busy with self-justification and ratings-wars to debate the issues, or even report them accurately.
