Giggs, Scholes, Carragher

All three players are legends for their respective clubs and rightly so. They are also recognised for their loyalty, professionalism and for being positive role models (until recently for Giggs ). Another thing they all have in common is that they abandoned their nations.

When Giggs made his debut he was the youngest ever Welsh international. Despite this he only managed 64 caps... Rooney already has 76 caps at 26 years old. He was renowned for faking injuries during international breaks. After his debut he didn't play a friendly for NINE YEARS and had another streak where he missed EIGHTEEN consecutive friendlies. It's shocking that a player who had such disregard for his nation was made captain imo. And this is all without mentioning he turned his back on Wales over five years ago.

And then we come to Scholes, or should I say Saint Paul Scholes the consummate professional and just all round great human being... who eight years ago, still only 29, decided spending time with his family was more important to him after throwing his toys out the pram at not being played in his favoured position. Furthermore he gave the country another slap in the face when he declined to be a part of the 2010 World Cup.

Finally Carragher, a man who comes across as passionate, committed and determined yet who walked away from the international game after becoming unhappy being a substitute for superior players. Not content with that he decided to worm his way in to the 2010 World Cup squad, which I felt was disrespectful to the players who were committed to the country and made themselves available for selection. Needless to say he retired again straight after the tournament.

Now I'm not denying all three were top players and exceptional servents to their clubs, but I'm not falling for all the constant bum licking after how they treated their nations.. We've already seen how Giggs fabricated a holier than thou image of himself while he was sleeping with with sister in law.

IMO none of these players should be regarded as home grown players for the 25 man squads. The whole point of that rule is to produce more quality home grown talent, and then you have people like Giggs, Scholes Carragher showing disdain for their countries and making them unavailable for selection.

Bergkamp had a phobia of flying

Giggs has a phobia of being faithful, so that makes it OK.

Great work Giggsy.

scholes has an autistic son which if you bothered to do any research on your point, you would know that was the main reason he retired from international football as he didnt want to leave his wife looking after him on her own

His autistic son was born after his decision to retire from international football

I see the OP made himself look like a real plank! Scholes retired after the FA said he couldn't go home after his Claire mis carried when in euro 04! So next time you want to rant on a great player, why not try some research before making yourself you like the total fook wit you really are!

Apart from Mr Giggs' well known nocturnal excursions all three are decent role models that keep themselves out of the press and dont blurb out pointless drivel on twitter. I wish a few of the younger Premiership players would do the same.

Namedrop alert time!!

I met Ryan Giggs at Paul Ince's wifes 40th. I had a really good chat with him about the footy and explained I was a Red. He said to me that if Utd didnt win the league he'd love to see Liverpool win it. He was a geniunely decent bloke - wasnt stuck up his own back passage like alot of them are.

Paul Scholes had a phobia of being played on the left.

Is it really that hard to look after an autistic son? I have worked with people with autism and I'm sure Mrs Scholes could cope - It doesn't ring true to me. However if he was refused permission to go home after his wife had a miscarriage then I'd say that's fair enough .

The autism thing isn't true. His son with autism is now 7. I don't think he was even born when Scholes gave up international football. Even if he had been born, he wouldn't have been diagnosed with condition that early in his life. The miscarriage story I have heard before, but not sure if it is true.
