Dignity in defeat

First of all i would just like to say how gutted i am that we didn't even get a point today especially as we were the better team despite having ten men. It's even more gutting when it is down to a poor refereeing decision.

However the reaction of some of the liverpool fans on here is quite shameful. Claiming that united bribed the ref and we were cheated is a just a sign of sour grapes and will just make us look bad whilst giving united fans more to gloat about. Yes we should be upset by the result and the reasons why we lost but we need to be dignified in defeat as poor refereeing decisions have always happened and always will.

halsey got all the big decisions spot on. as for liverpool being the better team, that's exactly what we were in the fa cup game last season. we lost that day, and liverpool lost today. c'est la vie.

I actually don't blame the ref, players make it so hard for them to get it right. Until football as a whole addresses the issues then these controversial decisions will continue to happen. Sometimes they'll be for you and sometimes against but they will happen.

I've just watched the penalty decision a couple more times and maybe the angle I have isn't right but I can't see contact. I still don't blame the ref though, there has to be personal responsibility, in this case Valencia. You don't blame the police if you've been pickpocketed do you?!

Sadly I think this is just the way football is going and it's the reason I'm slowly falling out of love with the game.

What?

Did we.never have goal/incident relays on.MOTD back in the 70's and.80's??

I remember seeing relays of all the incidents and goals back in the day so that claim is rubbish!

----------

Stop being an idiot phil.

I'm sure modern day technology could help the referee's in lots of ways as it does in many modern sports.

The technology used in the 70's wouldn't have done the job or been affordable you

The only difference is digital or tape storage from then to now.

You just had your reasons turned upside down....simple tape replay or digital replay for the 4th official.

So why would have it been so expensive back in the day?

I'd say it looks bad at full pace but pretty innocuous in slow motion. I suspect if it had been the other way around you'd be pretty disappointed and rightly so.

I've supported Liverpool for a lot of years and I've seen a lot of losses to Utd, some hurt more than others but the ones where we're debating the decisions are worst. Frankly I'd rather RvP stick one in the top corner from 25 yards than a debatable decision like that.

We weren't defeated, we were robbed. That's my opinion.
