City will win title

Roberto Mancini believes his Manchester City side will retain their Premier League title, despite experiencing a stuttering start to the season.

"We need to stay calm and work hard," said Mancini, whose side face a trip to Fulham on Saturday.

"We will win the title (but) I agree it is more difficult the second year."

City have looked susceptible defensively, conceding 14 goals so far this season, including seven in the top flight.

And they have not been as productive at the other end of the pitch. This time last year they had scored 17 goals in the Premier League; this season they have only found the net 10 times.

"We have conceded only two goals more than last year," added the City boss.

"Maybe we score less than last year after five games but we have had a problem with [the injury to striker] Sergio [Aguero]."

Do you agree with him? I think he's cracking up

No other manager, not even one who has won the title as many times as SAF would dream of making a statement like that. How can you? And why would you? The variables and upsets in the game are too many.

Don't think it's arrogant, I think he's trying to be clever and controversial, but really, he should keep it buttoned or he may come over as delusional and a bit stupid.

why do you think he is cracking up?

It is not Tony Pulis saying this, it's the manager of the reigning champions.

He can't win really, say nothing it's pressure getting to him, say we can't win it's its pressure getting to him!

Say we can win its pressure getting to him or he's being arrogant!

Who'd want to be a manager?

I dont know why we as United fans must fnd fault with this. I mean any of De Mateo, Wenger, MaCini and SAF can make those claims as all have squads that can win the league especially us and City.

Would'nt expect the manager of current champions to say anything other, unless he believes his players are not as good as last season.

Although city have changed personell they're no stronger than last season, when they won the league on goal difference. United and Chelsea are of course the main contenders and, in my opinion, are both stronger than City.Mancini has to back his team to win the league, but they won't.

The point surely is that there is no point in making such a rash statement.
You can big your team up and praise and encourage, as any manager will, but at this stage of the season, it has to be better to say less rather than more regarding a scenario eight months away.
It seems like he is trying to keep the owners happy more than the fans, to me.

And at the end of last season he must have been trying to keep nobody happy, saying it's impossible for us to win even when it was very possible that we could.

I don't really understand what he's done wrong, damned if he does damned if doesn't.
But then it's just another have a go at Mancini post.
