Liverpool got their first league win of the season in emphatic fashion on Saturday afternoon against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
They scored the first goal just two minutes in when Luis Suarez received the ball after a Glen Johnson pass into the box came back out to him, and he took a touch before slotting it into the bottom left corner.
Liverpool have been on the end of some atrocious refereeing decisions lately, and it was the same old story here as Leon Barnett elbowed Suarez in the head from behind in the box, but the referee gave nothing. But Suarez was smiling again on 38 minutes as he nicked the ball off a dawdling Michael Turner, before turning and finishing well with the outside of his right foot.
Liverpool made it three just two minutes into the second half, as Suarez's initial ball across goal was deflected back to him, but his second attempt was a success as he found Nuri Sahin who tapped it in. And Suarez himself scored a second consecutive Carrow Road hat-trick when he took advantage of the space provided by Russell Martin and bent it around him into the net.
Steve Morison pulled one back for the home side after Martin's shot was parried back into his path by Pepe Reina, and he fired it in. But Liverpool extended their lead back to four seven minutes later when Raheem Sterling found Steven Gerrard, and he fired it in via a deflection.
A late Grant Holt consolation goal, fired across Reina into the corner after he received the ball on the left, spoilt it a bit for Brendan Rodgers's side but he, as well as Liverpool's players and fans, will be happy to get their first league win and in such comfortable fashion. The victory lifts Liverpool up to 14th place in the table.

Four games on the trot now and overall our football has been excellent. Just sort out the occasional defensive lapse and we're looking good.
The decision to blood Suso and Sterling has been a massive bonus, plus the impact of The Ass means at long last we have threats out wide and players who can support Suarez and go wide and stretch teams The manager deserves huge credit for bringing in more players in the middle of the pitch as it now looks like we can dominate teams once again in this area.

Someone asked about youngsters coming into the team quicker and why.
I think it's the "old dog new tricks scenario" that while older players want to impress and do well, they have to shed their old tendencies first.
While youngsters will pick up ideas and absorb instruction much more readily.

PPD "occasional defensive lapse" how terribly diplomatic!!! The real bonus today was how well the youths slotted in. Suso I think, will be quite difficult to hang on to if his contract isn't secured. Allen had his usual, excellent game, Sahin too. Assaidi was under-used, he should have been given more of the ball. JimmyTheRed

Suarez didn't get the ref's decision, that's right. In my view it was a clear penalty. The best bit about it? total lack of any histrionics by Luis. Said nothing, did nothing, just got on with the job and scored a hat-trick. Can't ask for any more, can we? jimmyTheRed

the academy since benitez got pep segura and eduardo borrell in there have been playing the barca way..
its therefore alot easier for the youngsters to come through to the 1st team and play under rodgers, as his philosopy is near identical to barca's
