Luke Rooney...

...played most of the game for you on Saturday. What's the initial verdict? Good for him to be out on loan as given the size of our squad he's not getting s look in. He's certainly got skill, can beat a defender and deliver a decent cross. On the downside he can disappear occasion and the game can pass him by. I hope he does well for you.

Well DTMB, in recent years we have cornered the market in having diminuitive wingers who run about a lot but have been atrocious. They have been unable to cross the ball, beat players, shoot, score goals and / or have being pushed off the ball with ease. Gilroy, Gurrieri, Phillips and Ainsworth to name a few.

I think that on Saturday the memory of all of those players was at the forefront of my mind. In the first few minutes seeing Rooney running about like a mad thing added to it. Clearly keen and eager to please.

However, as the game wore on it was clear that he was better than the aforementioned. Considering his team mates and the style of play was totally new to him (more skill and better technique than Swindon ) he did ok.

I won't base my judgement on that 90 minutes. I have seen too many little wingers fade, lose their enthusiasm and become atrocious. I will see how he is after a few more games. A good start though.

Got to agree with Otep here DTMB. He could just be another winger who flatters to deceive.

That said he did put a couple of cracking balls into the box, however, worryingly when he did lose the ball on a few occasions he had no speed or knowhow on how to win the ball back!

My vote is most definitely out at the moment, fingers crossed he will find his feet and produce a good loan period for us.

I appreciate that he'll have to adjust to playing with your superior lads. If he comes up to scratch you might want him for a while longer. Good for him to be getting game time.

Well my friends he reminds me to much of that little waster we have injured at the moment im afraid.I dont know what it is about Gaz he seems to like this type of player and i ask myself why but i cant find any answers.Yes i agree Otep lets not be to quick to judge him and give the lad a chance but if im honest i dont hold to much hope for him.

Didn't do much for me. Moaned a lot and didn't track back as much as he should have (Phillips lol?).

That said, welcome Mr Rooney, now lets be having it!

I think it is a big concern that GR is making the same big mistake that Pesch made with loan players by bringing them in and reducing our own contracted players to spectators. In the case of Rooney I guess that he is covering a role where we have a long term injury (Phillips) and a player who has been fairly ineffective (Cleveland). In the case of Kiernan I don't know why he was brought in. Until Bradford our defence seemed to be developing some stability (no team gets sustained success if they swap the back 4 every match). Stanton went off with an injury that appeared to have cleared up 4 days later, but finds himself out of the team.

This reminds me of the Harrod situation where our top goalscorer was sidelined by a lad who never had any intention of staying with us. Next thing we hear is that Harrod's agent is saying "Give my client a pile of money or he's off".

We risk this happening again, this time with Stanton and Richards, who both appear to have fallen down the queue behind players who, by unanimous opinion, are nowhere near good enough (Kiernan and Yussuf).

I have just thought of another useless diminuitive winger that we had recently. Lewis Young. Absolutely cowin' useless.

The Stanno situation is bizarre. 'Out for several games with an Achilles tendon injury' was the post Bradford news. Fit for the next game 3½ days later. If Rowett thought he was going to be out for several games the sensible thing to do was to bring someone in.

Yussuf. I would send him out on loan.

Richards. Absolutely brilliant for the first 12-15 games of last season. A shadow of that player since.

Good evening fellow Brewers.

I've just found this page and felt so strongly/full of disgust about a comment that I felt I had to sign up and vent a little anger.

Emnez - Who is this "little waster" you are referring to? I assume since you're comparing him to a winger that it's either Phillips or Palmer you're on about. Either way, how the hell can you call yourself a supporter if you come on a public forum and use such a derogatory expression to describe a player, and an injured one at that, in such a way.

You are exactly the kind of "person" that we don't need in attendance at Burton Albion FC and to be honest there seems to be a growing trend of people like Emnez who feel they need to take every opportunity to slate the players or staff.

"People" who hide behind a keyboard and a computer screen and post personal comments like that make me sick. Sick because I realise what football "support" has truly become, especially at this football club.

I've been a Burton Albion supporter for many years but when I read comments like that and hear some of the comments I hear at home games, I realise that football is unfortunately unrecognizable from the game that I started watching many years ago.

Emnez, comments like yours and another idiot named Pez on here embody why I now feel the need to walk away from my football club that I love. I feel more people will do the same as time goes on.

I hope people like you realise that you are ruining football for proper supporters and I hope you feel incredibly proud of yourself.
